How old do you have to be to get a license in Toronto Canada?

I am going there on a 1 month holiday and wish to learn to drive as well as get a license within that period of time. I am 17 years old. Am I the right age?

You can get a driver's license at 16, but Ontario has a graduated system. First you have to pass a quick and easy written test to get your G1 license, which is a learner's permit. There are a bunch of restrictions with that, for example you can not drive without a licensed driver beside you. After so many months and a road test, you can get a G2 license, which means you can drive on your own, but not on most highways. There are other restrictions as well. After so many months on a G2, you can take another road test and get the full G license.

Residents of Ontario (the province Toronto is in) can get a learner's permit at 16. But if you don't live there, I highly doubt you can get a learner's permit, and you certainly can't rent a car at 17 or get a full license in a month.

G1 is 16, so you can't go on the 400 series, and you have to drive with an adult (18 or older) in the passengers seat. 18 to beable to drive on the 400 and without an adult.
