How safe is the city of Toronto?

How safe is the city anyway? I am thinking of living there after high school and go to college over there. But is the city really safe? Lots of people here in Houston that are from Toronto say it's like the fifth ward of houston, detroit, or South Central LA in most parts. I've been there and it doesn't seem that way until you reach Scarborough.

Toronto is way safer and cleaner than New York - NY,Los Angeles - CA, Houston - TX, Detroit - Michigan (Detroit is one of the most dangerous cities in North America) and Florida....on the other hand not as safe as Ottawa....choice is yours btw I'm from Toronto and I love this City

Toronto has about 10,000 population, and about 1,000,000 Judges, Lawyers, Law Clerks, Court Officers, Guards, all kinds of Securities, Police, Ontario Police, Toronto Police, RCMP, CS IS, TC Constables, Universities Police, SUI, Undercover Police and Police AGENTS and ten thousands other types of police, like Property Managers, Insurance companies, Doctors, Hospitals, Schools, Superintendent, Gym Managers, Banks managers and lists just go on and on... Even British Consulate General in Toronto!

Believe it or not the real fight is between these Police groups that they want all benefits for their own group...Such as import of Heroin from Iran, that Judges and Lawyers having fight with Police to take control of distributing drugs to USA and Canada.
Please check the following documents to make sure that all are "Statement of Facts" before the Courts:

Haggish v. Canada [Custom Canada]; T-1900-96, Federal Court related to smuggling of Toronto Judges, lawyers and Police involving in import of Heroin from Iran.

Major Keyvan Nourhaghighi v. Canada [Canadian Security Intelligent Review Committee] T-762-04, Federal Court
Canadain Involved in 9/11 attacks against USA

Major Keyvan Nourhaghighi v. Canadian Human Rights Commission et al T-1535-00, Federal Court; A-50-01 Federal Court of Appeal; and file 30350 of Supreme Court of Canada, over 400 master evidence indicating Canadian Judges, Lawyers and Police were involved in Forgery of Orders and Transcripts, Accident Reports and Trespass of Data of Several Banks Deendants like CIBC, Bank of Montral, Scotiabank, and TD, were RCMP & the Crown have changes the Banks' data and created forged banks transactions

Toronto is a safe city in most areas but like any major city, there are certain areas that you want to avoid at night. Avoid Jane and Finch area, as well as areas of Scarborough.

As with any city there are always "areas" that will be seedy. I have lived in Toronto in the heart of St Jamestown and I never had any problems there. I have also lived at the Hostels there down near Queen Street and Dundas. No problems there either. I think for the most part that the city is safe and as long as you keep your nose out of trouble...you will be okay. Hope this helps.

My cousin is trying to get her BF to move here too.

Toronto Is generally safe. Depending on where you go and your street knowledge. but this is representative of every city

Tina Get The Axe!
I was stranded in Toronto when my train was delayed and all the hotels were booked and nothing happened maybe it helped cuz i was with my hole family LOL. But just go on yahoo's main page and type in list of murder's in Canadian city's, so far i believe they have had over 80 murder's. But if you don't get involved with the wrong ppl and don't do drugs and don't go wondering dangerous streets you should be fine.
maybe go under Toronto info stuff like that on yahoo or google.

Toronto is safe. There are some altercations in the entertainment district but really it IS safe. You are right about Scarborough though. But again, its all isolated incidents

FeatherHead
Toronto is very safe....its is very unlike any of those US ghettos that you mentioned...we have our crime, just like any other city, and you have to take the regular precautions, but it is offensive that someone would think of TO as the same as some of those places....far from it....

2eighty8
You and your friends are right. You should take a look at the north-west end of the city; it makes Scarborough look like a first class area. While Toronto isn't anywhere near the crime rate as Houston, but it is on its way there. Just before Christmas, we had a small gang battle on the highway and one car shot at an innocent driver...just to get her out of the way. She lived, as the round slowed itself down enough to just bruise her neck. 90% of the population are also selfish, conceited assholes who will walk over their own mothers just to get what they want. If Houston's like this, you'd be right at home.

Remember, kids, like drugs, say "no" to Toronto.

Like any city it has its rough areas, but the majority of Toronto is actually A LOT safer than most cities, especially in the US. There are some...rough areas but for the most part it's really nice. Plus the public transportation is really great, it will get you ANYWHERE in the city
