How should i dress for the weather in vancouver, canada? |
my father just decided to drive up to vancouver, canada. i live in san francisco, california. it's much warmer and it never snows here. so tell me, how should i dress when i reach canada? how do people dress there? i mean, i really don't want to look out of place because every place dresses a certain style, and i want to dress appropriately according to the weather. i checked the forecast and it seems like it snowed a bit. i know enough to dress thickly. but my question leans more towards to how the clothing style looks like in vancouver. do women wear boots? what style boots? peacoats and wool jackets? how do they look like? what style jeans? sneakers? so what's the style?! i'm a female and nineteen years of age, if that helps. pictures and sites would be nice in your answer. any reasonable advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you so much for your time. |

These are just a few examples of some of the stores that we have here in Vancouver, and that would be a good way for you to see some of the fashions that we see around here. I hope that this helps with some of the fashions.
The most smartest, is to maintain an image, that allows you to keep warm and allows you to keep well. Also you might want to bring snow boots with you with pretty good traction,as we have had some really interesting weather up here lately, and some will involve flash freezes and stuff like that.
I will also provide you some of the more common sites that are used up here for weather predictions so that you're able to look at the weather forecasts before you come up here.

Vancouver Island has one of the mildest climates in Canada. Vancouver winters are mild, on average, snow falls on only eleven days per year. Average daily alpine temperature during most of the winter months is -5°C (22°F). Vancouver usually enjoys excellent summer weather characterized by very pleasant, warm days with abundant sunshine. The city has 164 wet days (where it rains at least part of the day) and more than 8 hours of daylight and mild days and nights. |

Naiomi, you act like Vancouver is part of a a different planet.
People dress the same in Vancouver as they do in San Fran. Although they might layer more because at the moment there's snow. Any style clothes that they wear in San they will wear here. Very diverse... same as anywhere.
My sister buys all her clothes online... at this site..called Delias. That will give you an idea of what they wear.
Sometimes we get little or no snow at all all winter. Snow is not that common here in Van, we are considered the "Hawaii" of Canada. Very mild and extremely hot in the summer, similar to Californa.
Have fun when you visit!! You should really try to vist in the summer! You'd love it. |
