1. You can try to carpool (though, similar to the person I would suggest to only carpool with someone who just wants to return gas costs, and is not doing business on this, as those "underground" companies are unrealiable, and their cars/drivers can be rubbish - you never know).
2. Another option is to buy a VIA or Greyhound ticket for cheaper from someone who is eager to get some money back and has non-returnable ticket (assuming you originally said you didn't want to use VIA or Greyhound due to price, and not for some other reason)

There are a couple of other options but they could be expensive. You could ......
a) rent a car and drive back.
b) hire a limo to drive you back.
c) fly out of Toronto.

the cheaper ways are to take groundhound or VIA trains.

If your planning on taking the VIA train, try this site to help you get there.

Stay away from the underground buses they mostly operate out of Quebec where the regulations are more lax than in Ontario. A couple of years ago one of these vans crashed on the 401 killing everyone. As another poster put it you can fly or you can drive and that is about it.

There are many underground van services / rideshare that operate between Toronto and Montreal and some will go to Ottawa as well - you have to ask them though. It's basically a van rented by a driver that will drive you. There isn't a lot of cargo room, but it costs about $40 one way. It is underground as I know there is a lot of licensing involved and insurance, but if you are looking for a cheaper alternative that is reliable and safe, then this would be

I live in TO and had a bf in Montreal who would use this service like every weekend for the longest time. They usually drop you at Scarborough Town or Yorkdale mall.

Hope this helps :)
