How to protect myself in canadian winter?

During the winter months our homes and workplaces are centrally heated which is very drying to the skin for some people. Be prepared to have to slather on the moisturizing lotion. I used to find the winter indoor air also irritated my eyes and caused my contact lenses to feel uncomfortable. Drops helped.

Those of us who aren't concerned with "looking cool" when it's cold wear warm enough coats/jackets and boots to keep our feet warm and dry as well. Gloves/mittens, scarves and hats are also required, depending on the area of Canada where you are going to be.

If the temperatures get below freezing, the radio stations broadcast messages about how quickly exposed skin will freeze under those conditions. So, wrap your scarf around your face and pull your hat down over your ears. Button up your coat; wear warm socks inside your boots and pull on your gloves.

And, since you're the one who mentioned "personal hygiene" - wearing your boots indoors all day can really stink up your feet and your boots. Carry shoes with you (or keep them at work) so you can get out of your warm boots when inside.

Canadian winters are really not that bad. You just need a good coat, hat scarf and mittens. Dress and layers, shower regularly and invest in a good hand cream and lip balm. You will be fine.

You may also want to get a good paid of water resistand insulated shoes or boots. It can get slightly slushy out there. if possible I will cary an extra pair of mittens and socks on those wetter days. It is just handly to have a back up. Nothing worse than walking around in wet socks all day.

Well, Canada is a big place, so there is not just one answer! If you are near the Arctic Circle it's one thing and you should get specialized advice for that. However, most people in Canada live in the Southern part of Canada where it is about as cold as the Northern states like Michigan. In most cities in Canada, you would need a warm coat or jacket, a woolen scarf, mittens or gloves, weatherproof boots and a thick woolen hat that covers your ears. In the Arctic, you would need to cover all of your skin, but in Vancouver where it is relatively warm, you probably would not need the scarf or hat. I'm not sure what you mean about food and personal hygiene. I don't think you need to follow different rules of personal hygiene in Canada. In terms of food, you can find most cuisines in large cities. I mean you might want to try local produce etc, but you don't have to eat specific foods just because you are in Canada. In most parts of Canada, you should be able to get most kinds of food. Have fun in Canada.

It really depends where you live. In the middle of the country, it's freezing cold. It's freezing cold in Quebec, in the maritimes,
in Alberta, most of B.C. People think it's cold in Toronto but that's because they usually underdress. It's actually quite warm. Only
on certain occasions does it get to -30. Toronto has one huge
hydro-electric windmill on the waterfront and that serves a secondary purpose of sending all of the snow to Buffalo,
Tonawanda and Cheektowaga.

In the metropolitan areas, it's wise to shower at least once a day. Further out of these areas, especially in the north, you can get by with showering once a month, unless you've had anything to do with carving up walrus blubber, seal meat or what not.

Food is usually a requirement no matter where you go in Canada.
In fact I would say it's probably a sure thing that you'll want to eat.

The diet of most metropolitan people is similar to that of any major metropolis in North America. As you go farther out you should expect to alter your diet to include moose, venison and perhaps Buffalo steaks or burgers. Expect to be served the odd road kill as well.

Hello dear, I am sure you have heating in your house, well that is a good way to start, I think you should go shopping for some warm cloths, you could eat and drink what ever you want as you were in the Caribbean, as where personal hygiene comes in, friend please bath everyday an please use deodorant and loofah is always a plus.
