How would you go about running away to canada and not getting caught?

Im 14 about to be 15 this summer. I absolutley hate my life. my parents are the worst, they keep me in my house like its a cage. im never allowed to leave. I never tell them anything because they're complete and total spazes. Even my friends think so but I want to run away to canada so they can't bother me anymore I live in illinois. im prob gonna ask my boy friend to come I don't know what he's going to say. Im most likely going either way. I don't know if I should like.....get a ride there or take a train or what can someone help me.

And what will you do when you get here...? Live on the streets? As an illegal immigrant you won't be able to work here, even if you were old enough to work.

At 15 you are a minor, and minors are not permitted to cross the border without a Notarized letter of consent from their parent/guardian. Also, there will be nothing for you if on the off chance you were able to "sneak" into Canada. You are not a citizen, cannot access any of our social programs (like Welfare, if thats what you were thinking) and cannot attend school here, without valid vaccination records, transcripts, and permission to be in our country.

Almost every teenager I know feels the same way as you. I know I did. And I tried to fix it by running away. It did not make things better. I think you should be thankful that your parents care enough about you, to not let you run the streets, do whatever you want, and try to keep you out of trouble. Perhaps they are going about it the wrong way, but keep in mind that they are learning as the go along. You did not come into this world with an instruction manual. Perhaps part of the reason they do not let you go out, is that you don't tell them anything. How can they trust you, if you cannot be open with them. I'm willing to bet they do not even know you have a boyfriend. Which brings me to think that you are not protecting yourself by using birth control/condoms. Even if you are not having sex, being in a relationship is enough to warrant birth control + condoms if you are a girl, or of course condoms if you are a boy, because at your age, sometimes things just happen before you realize they are happening.

If you are not mature enough to sit down and have a conversation with your parents about how they are making you feel, then you are not mature enough to take care of yourself. Especially on the streets of a foreign country.
Take some advice from someone who learnt the hard way.

bad things happen to runaways. wait until you finish high school

Have you tried talking to your parents? Tell them how you feel...they're not mind readers. If you can't...talk to a school counselor relative or any adult you feel comfortable with. Running away anywhere is not the answer. You will be putting everyone who cares about you through a lot of pain and worry and yourself in danger. Don't do it! Your life could depend on it. There are a lot of crazy people out there unfortunately...
Please talk to someone....lot's of kids go through that faze... :0]

xdadadax
no you shouldn't..
theres a lot of kids that go through this faze...
& running away usually gets you no where,
some kids end up homeless, some killed, etc.

is there a mature adult you can talk to?
you should talk to one...
it's better to go to an adult because they are more experienced..
sometimes your girlfriends your age don't always know what's best.

let your parents at least know how you feel...
maybe imagine yourself in their situation...
think about what it's like to be them and how it is
to raise a child...
it's good to think about both persectives,

maybe tell them in a calm manner, avoid yelling and screaming, because this will only tire your longues, and they will think that
they are right, but if u talk to them in a more calm manner, they
will be more likely to listen..

your parents seem overprotected... it might be annoying but
they're doing that because they love you,
they want you safe, because they really care about it.

To directly answer your question, at 15 years old you shouldn't have too much trouble crossing the border, as long as you haven't been reported missing, but I don't recommend flying.

On another note, I don't recommend you try it. At least wait until you're 16, and you no longer legally have to reside with a parent/guardian (in Quebec, I don't know about elsewhere), or 'till you're 17, and you could legally live alone in Florida, for instance, or just hold on a few more short years 'till you're 18, and by then you can do whatever you want, but you probably won't even want to leave home, anymore.

Just work things out with your parents. Things can't turn out well.

I can speak from experience. When I had just turned 15, I really hated my life, and I had decided that I was going to take the bus to New York City (from Montreal) and start a new life. I had my hotel and bus booked, and I had arranged to meet up with some friends once I got there. I was planning on going at christmas, and going to the new years celebrations in Times Square.
After that, my plan was to go to Boston with a friend, and live there.

Well, it didn't work out. I woke up that morning at 5:00am, took a taxi to the central bus station, borded the bus the nyc, and rode for a few hours. By the time I go to the border, I had been reported missing, and was stopped.

I'm glad I was stopped, because after that, things turned up for me, and pretty soon I was though my teenage years.

Everyone goes through a rebelious period in their life, but you'll just have to deal with it. Go yell at your parents if it satisfies you, but don't leave home.

The only exception would be if your parents are abusing you, in which case you should seek out local police or youth services.

You kinda need ID to get past the border. If your underage without parental consent or guidance, good luck trying to come to Canada

You are under age, so that is a very difficult situation. Shouldn't really be giving advice and you don't want anyway. So, if you are determined, then you can do as if you're going for a week-end trip and if lucky at the border they won't ask a thousand questions (You still need some sort of ID, birth certificate..). Then you disappear into nothing. No papers, a non-person. because to be "legal" as in a "legal" immigrant, you'd need to fill out papers - which you can't do because you're a minor.
