Howlong does it take to drive to Montreal from Toronto?

We are planning a couple's mini vacation/road trip. We are considering Montreal as one place to visit. An estimated time in hours would be appreciated.
Additional Details
Sorry for the spelling in my question. I was in a rush!

I live in Toronto so I know how hectic the traffic can be. I only plan on making one rest stop for gas and restrooms (possibly more as there will be at least four of us).

Dustiiart and Mel are right...Montreal is FAR from TO...it takes at least 5-6 hours...

Time will depend on the route you wish to take, there are a few ways to get to your destinatiion...are you planning to go from TO thru Ottawa then to Montreal? If so, time from TO to Ottawa is appx 4.5 hrs, time from Ottawa to Montreal is appx 2 hrs.

Also depending on when, time of day etc...TO is a grid lock during the week and Ottawa can be too if you drive through at rush hour (7:30 am - 9 am or 3:30 pm - 6 pm) weekdays, Montreal is a zoo during weekdays as well...weekends TO and Montreal can still be chaotic, Ottawa weekends are normally fairly calm traffic wise.

Enjoy your trip!

I cannot believe how many people waste their time answering questions that they don't know the answer to.

It takes 5-6 hours to drive to Montreal from Toronto if you take the 401.

This is provided, obviously, that you aren't stuck in traffic for three hours in Toronto.

It takes at least seven hours I would say. I've gone on the bus and train and it was longer than that, but driving I would say seven.

♥Meow♥
