We dont all speak french, nice near the airports??
Its the best place in the world to live, visit, vacation,we have four very defined seasons. We dont live in igloos but we do plug our cars in in the winter, except in british columbia.Visit one of our many provincial parks for some of the best swimming, camping or fishing you"ll ever exprience. And in the winter, well hockey of course or ice skating.sledding,The columbia icefileds. And as far as the bad things????.sorry cant think of any. OH CANADA !

Go to BC that is, make sure you have your Winter Parka, your French/English dictionary, and your snow shoes. Pack your survival gear and food rations. Don't forget your touque(that is a winter hat for you American folks) Hope you like dogs, for commuting is only on dog sleds, they do go quite fast. So set your dvr's at home, there is no t.v. reception up in the North and come see Beautiful British Columbia

im canadian, and well duh i think canada's awesome! most ppl speak english..but i guess if u go to quebec they'll mostly speak french...canada rox. i wouldnt want to live anywhere else.

canada is wonderful place to live i think..
most of the rest of the world likes and respects us as a country which is nice.. :)
we don't have as much crime as in the states (at least it doesn't feel that way).. we have lots of green space.. and everyone for the most part is pretty friendly and helpful if need be.. :)
i've been trying to learn french as i think it would be a nice thing to learn but in canada you can get by if you don't speak french as only parts of canada are french based

canada is very nice. it is a beautiful country, people are nice, clean for the most part, in the cities it can get a little dirty, but not too too bad, toronto and halifax are very clean places. the scenery is fabu, cape breton island it beautiful , the cabot trail will take your breath away, i moved here 5 years ago ( cape breton) and it is a very boring place i must admit, i often go towards halifax to have my fun, but if i want to go and just drive and look at the surroundings, this is the place to do so. as mentioned before halifax is an awesome city. it has great night life, the people are nice, its not a huge city, but it is still one, spring garden road . busiest street in nova scotia.. haha woo hooo now taht something to be proud of.
not everyone speaks french. it would be an asset to have if you were in quebec. i was taught french all throughout school , and i understand it enough but im not fluent.... slacked off.
im ashamed to say that the furthest west that i've made it in my own country is ontario. travelling through out canada is very expensive, it's much cheaper to go to america... which is bad for our economy when you think about it. ive been all through europe three times, costa rica, the carribbean, the states but never to alberta manitoba, sask or bc. some day i hope :) i wish to see the rockies ive seen the alps now i haveeeeeeeeeeeeeee to see them anyways canada rocks!

Since I haven't lived outside of Canada after the age of 3, I really have nothing to compare it to. So to answer your question: better than the U.S., I guess!!

Wolf
Oh my God!
Canada is wonderful away from all the traffic and airports.
Go into mountains and in the national parks, trans-Canada railway, moutians with glaciers and even ice burgs.
See the wolves and stay in a log cabbin and your understand what I mean.
You don't know what your missing.

That is what it is like in Canada

I'm a Canadian, and I have travelled in other countries, but I have to say Canada is awsome. The people are really friendly, and as you get further away from the airports, it jsut gets better. French is the main language in the province of Quebec, and is very common in parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. I am not fluent in French because I live in Alberta, which is mainly english speaking, and I slacked off in highschool. French would be an asset if you are travelling in Quebec, but it is not necessary. As far as the rest of Canada, English is the main language. The whole country is great, but my favorite part is the Rocky Mountians, they are amazing any time of year.

Hey!!!
boring

Canada is a beautiful place to live as long as you stay out of the big cities. There is a wide variety of people throughout the provinces.Quebec has the majority of french speaking people, altho there are many english speaking communities. This is the safest country in the world. My opinion anyways!

happywhereIam
I've been to BC many times and it reminds me very much of Seattle; similar mentality, weather, etc. To be safe, take the normal safeguards you would in the US. I can only speak for Vancouver area, although I've visited some more remote areas of BC.

Like anywhere in the world (US included), it has places there's no need to visit.

As for language, French and English is listed on signs but my Canadian friends there speak only English. They had French in school but speak with a different accent, just like any nonnative speaker would.

One thing that stood out is the price difference in everyday things. Things seem very expensive in BC compared to what you could buy in the US, like fruit, milk, eating out.

Hope this helps.
