No she can't become a citizen through marriage.She will need to be sponsored by you and must apply to become a permanent resident and live in the country for at least 3 years to become a citizen. |

Gay or straight, your new spouse has to apply for citizenship. You will go through the interview process to make sure it's a real 'love' marriage and not solely for cititzenship. Contact immigration on the Gov. of Can website for all the details!

If she is not Canadian and you marry her, no she will not be Canadian, however, you can sponsor her to become a CDN Citizen.

No, Canadian citizenship is not conferred by marriage. A person has to apply for it.

As the other have said, she will not magically become a Canadian citizen, however she will be eligible to apply for it with relative certainty that she'll be accepted. You have to remember though that while she is in the country solely under your sponsorship you are, in a sense, completely responsible for her. She will not be allowed to work.
Also remember that you have to actually be married to this "someone"; if you are not genuinely in a relationship with someone, they *will* find out. |

No, but the process for her to become Canadian will be much easier if she is married to a Canadian, and the process is the same for both gay and straight couples. You really need to check the Canadian immigration site. Best of luck with your plans. |
