Switch it to Canadian money.
The shops in Canada may not take american money, or will accept it at face value at par with Canadian money. You'd be saving yourself a headache if you just exchange your money. |

If I were you I would exchange your USD to Canadian. It would save you a lot of trouble in the end. I go over to the US a few times a year to do some shopping and I always end up coming back with a good chunk of change in US dollars.
Some places will have a hard time converting it for you, some places will not give you the most current exchange rate and some places will just treat it like its a Canadian Dollar and not give you an exchange rate at all. I have personally been in all these situations. So to get the biggest bang for your buck I would exchange it to Canadian funds and save yourself a lot of time/hassle. |

If you have an American ATm card when you use it in Canada, it will spit out Canadian currency.
By the way, we are Canada and you are not going to Canadian. Canadian is what people from Canada are called.
Why are the stupidest questions always posted on American Yahoo about Canada? When are you guys going to stop thinking of us like a huge blob on top of you and get to know your northern neighbors? We have quite a good thing going on up here but you Americans are so ignorant about us! |

Use your US credit card. Or just take out some Canadian cash from an ATM. |

you can do that at a lot of stores, but the exchange rate will not be as good, so you will get less for your money, so youre better off exchanging instead. |

You're better off exchanging it, first some shops wont accept it Second some shops wont do an exact exchange and third its just respectful to exchange money. |

You will need Canadian money unless you wanna get ripped off. If you offer Canadian money, it will either be rejected, or taken at par, so you'll be losing tons of money that way. |
