I'm moving to Canada, and wondering which wireless phone provider is better?

I don't want to get stuck with some crappy company for like 2 years.
thanks

In short, all 4 major wireless companies in Canada suck ***. I've been through all 4 of them. U.S. carriers are much cheaper, reliable, and in general better.

Telus - Best reception, reliable, but also most expensive.
Fido or Rogers - Rogers recently bought out Fido. Fido is the cheapest of the carriers, and as such reception and reliability is poor. Rogers is okay, I however was a Rogers customer when they bought Fido, and got f'ed when they merged all the networks. Don't recommend Rogers either.

Bell - Reliable, and decent signals, phones aren't that good. Also expensive.

I would have to recommend Telus....been with Telus for a bit now, they're expensive, but at least I don't throw my phone against the wall in disgust.

You can do Fido phones on a pay-as -you-go basis, much like Cricket in the US. Mine works fine.

Not Rogers, I would give up using my cell and so would a dozen other people I know before they used Rogers again.

I use a telus phone and I am happy with the price, the service, the features, the free upgrades and the quality of the phones -all of which were horrid with Rogers

And no padded phonebills with bogus billing on them, Rogers once tried to charge me for FOUR calls to my lawyers office on a Sunday, (do you know a lawyer who works on a sunday?) and TWO calls allegedly made when I was sailing and out of range, 30 minutes for one and 43 minutes for the other.

Rogers also has huge areas driving across the country where there is NO service.

They also sold my friend a refit phone and told her it was brand new, it didnt work from the beginning and they refused to replace it two days after she had bought it.

She paid the cost of a new one for what was a second hand phone - when she got it home the day she bought it and looked at it, it was loaded with someone else's phone book.

everyone will give you an opinion .By the way if you go to rogers its the same company as fido now and has the same plans ....

Rogers you go with if you love headaches and screwed up bills . I have horrible stories of how they even placed someone name on my account and then started calling me which collection threats even though I did not have cable only wireless and the only thing similiar was the other persons last name nothing else not the same age or address.

I had to speak to 5 managers and several letters .

Bell I never had a billing problem with but they do not have GSM phones ,from last I knoew ...a year ago but maybe things have changed for them . I have heard alot of custmers talk how satisfies their were with TELUS.

You also should think how your going to use your phone ...will you be travelling alot in Canada ( ie business? ) then rogers has the largest network though except for in the maritime provinces.

oh sorry aother horror story with rogers.....a few years back
I was told I was a SCAM artist and did not want to pay my long distance charges. I had not gone out of the city ...After insultting me I spoke to a manager who apologized and stated it would be pysically impossible for me to make those calls because in less than 5 minutes I was in two different provinces supposedly making calls !!!!

Rogers somehow, Bell Mobility is countrywide and has good service.

Bell or Rogers are pretty good. Usually they have two to three year contracts but I think Rogers has the pay as you go feature where you don't need a contract.

London Catlover
Rogers Wireless is good and also an all Canadian Company. Bell Mobility is also good.

nbr660
Rogers is good

Hm.

The main ones are bell and rogers, and you get stuck with the phone for 3yrs. usually, sorry. I'd go with Rogers, better phones.
