Montreal is actually mostly bi-lingual, you wont have any problems what so ever. Only when you get farther away from Ontario would you run into any problems.

And also, it only takes a month or two to get used to french and understand it a little.

you will not have much of a problem living there if youre going to school, most people will automatically switch to english if they even hear the slightest accent when speaking french, though you will run into the occasional person that doesnt speak english, so its good to know a few key phrases, and everything is written in french, but it will be easy to figure out what they say or refer to, just by looking around, so youll be fine.

Depends. Are you going into highschool or cegep or what?
In high school, you need to pass french, but there are modified classes in some schools for beginners.
You take cegep and university in english. Cegep is basically the english version of college. It goes, highschool from grade 7 to 11, then cegep for about 2 years, then if you choose you can go to university.
so basically, it all depends on your school.

I wouldnt worry too much. Montreal is pretty bilingual and you will learn french quickly. Im english and so are most of my friends. I speak mostly english except for when i need to speak french, which is in school. mostly.

furthermore, im young and i live in montreal. it is a party.

Break my heart why dont ya!

you will be fine!!! I live in ontario and in the summer i went to montreal and acutally most of the people speak english also, its not going to be a porblem at all you will pick up french when you live there. I went there for 3 days and it was great alot of graffetite but great almost everywhere i went people spook english but i would in the future learn french so it will be easier. I have been taking french since grade 4 and its not that hard most of the words are similer

good luck !!!!

go to La Ronde

Go Canada!!

Montreal is extremely English. Within the city centre it is VERY rare to find someone who won't be able to speak English to you. The only time that someone will not be able to speak English to you will be because, part of being a French Canadian is defending our language and sometimes we do that by forcing English people to speak our language because we know that they can. But, if you politely apologize and say that you really don't speak any French, they will usually speak to you in English.

As for learning French, you're young you'll pick it up extremely fast. In a few months you'll be able to understand and communicate functionally.

ohhh i'm sorry your stuck moving here... i feel bad for you...
(it's not that bad but i've seen so many other places that i'd love to live in)

anyway... in the downtown area you should be fine.... but you should start to learn french because there are some people that will not give you the time of day if you do not speak french...

yeah yeah give me thumbs down ... i live here i see it ...

You'll be fine, dont worry about it. I've lived here almost my entire life and very rarely do i speak french, and if you're going to school i'm almost positive its an anglo school somewhere downtown so thats even better since most of everyone speaks english there, actually its quite funny i hear more english daily than french, only occasionally do i hear actual french being spoken lol funny for whats suppose to be all french >_>
But anyway you will find it rather easy when you get here that the language thing isnt a big problem at all, though i have to agree with some statements sometimes you might bump into some frenchies who dont speak english or just wont give you the time of day cuz you don't speak french and they'll be rude about it too but ignore them just keep walking. Eventually you'll start picking it up. Well hope that helps, feel free to ask me anything else, o and this is out of the blue but i could give you a tour of the city(well mostly how to get around downtown thru the tunnels, it'll make things a lot easier for you during winter too lol) if you'd like that is. Anyway hope this was helpful to you.
