From Wikipedia
"The summer months are often very dry, resulting in moderate drought conditions a few months of the year. In contrast, winter is a rainy season with more than half of all winter days receiving measurable precipitation. On average, snow falls on only eleven days per year, with only three days receiving 6 centimetres (2.4 in) or more." |

Yasha, it is not true; it just seems that way. Vancouver (BC) is a beautiful place but the winters can be kinda gloomy. I remember one year the sun hadn't appeared for months. A continuous sheet of grey covered the sky. Then one day a great, shining light broke through the clouds. Dogs cowered, cars ran off the roads and many people moved quickly indoors in fear that it might have been the start of wwIII. the police stations were flooded with calls reporting the incident all over town. Even churches filled with new converts; crying and in great fear. Turns out it was just the day of summer. Many people were really pissed that they missed it, as you can imagine. So, in summation, there really is no need to believe exaggerated claims of lots of rainy days. |

Well, I've been here for about 2 and a half months & I could count the number of sunny days on the fingers of one hand! Eg: right now, after a metre of snow it's now raining.... |

It rains a lot in the winter, but is so sunny and hot in the summer. The best of both :) |

I moved here in 85 in July and the summer just seemed to go on forever, dry no rain at all, until mid-october the rainy season started and wondered WTH!! I am going to either drown or off myself due to Seasonal depression disorder. But by feb the daffs and tulips are up and grass green so its not as bad as eastern winters which go on 4ever.
Short answer, it rains Nov, Dec (with a bit of snow mixed), Jan it pours and Feb starts to dry off March and April and then drought June, July, Aug, Sept..
You acclimatize to the rain. (and still cant get over Vancourites habit of using umbrellas in the snow but not in the rain!!) |

Most of the year it has a potential of being rainy. Winter and early spring and then early summer have the potential for being quite rainy, as well as the fall, but other times that are not mentioned have a potential of being quite nice.
If you're wanting to visit this place, then I suggest that you look at the weather at one of these three sites.
Environment Canada http://www.meteo.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-74_metric_e.html
The Weather Network http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/cabc0308/?ref=wxeyecitypage
Accuweather
http://www.accuweather.com and then click Canada for weather, and then in the search box go to Vancouver, BC |

It's only rainy in the wintertime. It's beautiful in the summertime though. |

Well, it might not rain half the year but it might look like it's going to any minute. From late September to early June, it could rain. That doesn't mean it will. There are sunny days in that time too, especially in spring(March onwards) when it might be sunny and rainy in the same day. But like freeside said, by February the spring flowers are coming out --my daffodils were showing shoots a few weeks ago before it snowed--when the rest of the country is in a deep freeze. And summer can be incredible, not raining for weeks on end in some years. |

Half the year you'll have days that have rain. But most of the time, it rains for maybe an hour in the morning and then it's sunshiny and beautiful the rest of the day.
Winter, of course, is the exception. It rains heavy and long for days on end during the winter. |

Just to add to the previous answers, most rain showers seem to take place at night, with the sun peeking out in the morning to dry things out a bit. If you visited between mid-June and mid-September and got rained on for 4-5 days straight, you would obviously be cursed. |
