No, you will not need a visa to visit Canada, but if you intend to travel from Canada to America, you will need a visa.

You do not need a visa to visit Canada, just a valid British passport, and you can stay for up to six months without any special permission.

Contrary to other answers above:
1) Canada is NOT a territory of the UK.
2) You do not need a visa to visit the US. You can visit the US and then return directly to Canada with your British passport.

no you don't need a visa to visit Canada and you can stay for up to 6 months. If you cross over to US then you will need a visa waiver which cost $6 American.

You don't need a visa for a holiday lasting up to 6 weeks, if you have a return ticket, but if you are intending to work or study in Canada or plan a longer stay, you should consult the Canadian High Commission.

No, I went this past summer and did not require a visa of any kind.

Im in Canada right now and you definately dont need anything but your passport!

Penfold
I did not need one when I went in December 2005. As far as I am aware you still don't need a visa.

It is always advisable to check with the embassy if in doubt. Check the UK FCO website as well for a quick summary of travel advice.
