You need a valid U.S. passport, a job there, or a sponsor to prove that you are not a liability. Also to be a resident you need a federal U.S. criminal records check, and a state criminal records check to prove that you are not a bad guy.
If you can prove all of this, contact "Canadian Immagration" for the rest. And it will usually cost you a few thousand dollars for processing fees there. Good Luck

I would first learn how to spell it.

Adjust your bank account. The cost of living can be outrageous if you are not careful. The tax rate is high, but the dollar goes far. I would get a visa to work there and try it for a while before I jumped in. But, if your gay ( and not that there's anything wrong with that!), it is legal there and not here.

Check out this website for all the little differences between Americans and Canadians.

Three things.
1) You as an American will nearly always be the jerkiest person in the room but the Canadians will usually be gracious enough not to let you know they notice.
2) It is colder there, especially in winter.
3) In Montreal, some people speak French. Out West, some people speak Cree or other Native languages. Way in the east, they speak Gaelic. It's cool that way.
