I am going to Canada! What is there to do? |
Yeah, jokes about hockey and dark nights with sled dogs aside, I am going to Vancouver, and then taking the train to Halifax, Nova Scotia, with a few days in Jasper, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. Anyone have any cool ideas? This is a once in a lifetime thing. It's my honeymoon! Additional Details Oh yeah, and we're stopping off at Niagara Falls. And we're going the whole way by train. |

wow! what a great trip, and by train too...
jealous! heck most of us Cdns haven't seen our country coast-to-coast..
you are going to get the most sensational views thru the rockies!!
you've got all the right stops/spots!
seeing as you're a goth,
Vancouver's got "Sanctuary" - goth club night, long running...
other things in Van:
- if you puff, check out one of the marijuana cafes, in the area of Gastwon and Chinatown.. in Chinatown check out the Sun Yat Sen Gardens (classical chinese style) good shopping on Pender and Keefer sts there.. Hons Won Ton in Chinatown has good cheap Chns food.. Gastown, the old part of town has lots of tourist ships (crap) but a nice walk.. they have a new interactive underground mulit-million dollar museum called storeyum taht's supposed to be fantastical
If you have a taste for the macabre - Science World (very close to train station ) will be showing the partially dissected humans in various poses, dipped in plastic..called Body Worlds...
Most goths I know don't generally dig the beach or mountains - but we've got that too.. lots of shopping.. if you're a girl - you might dig the Betsy Johnson store, off Robson
have a great trip!
EDIT:
oh yeah, also in Van you might dig the Aquarium at Stanley Park, whales, sharks, otters, octopi, touchy-feely tidal pools of invertebrates - all sorts a stuff..
Hfx, be sure to pay a visit to "Hell" on gottagen st. also the museum there has displays on both Titanic and the Great Explosion (biggest ever pre Hiroshima) |

Hmmm, well I can only give suggestions on what's hot in Vancouver as it is the only bit of Canada I've been to. I'd definately go to the Capilano suspension bridge, Canada Place, Stanley Park, and the Aquarium. All are beautiful places to visit, and all in all Vancouver is a beautiful city just to wander around, especially the Gastown and Chinatown sections. |

Ooh, I went to Canada last year and it is awesome!! If you're going to Niagara Falls you can arrange a trip by helicopter, it's not too expensive and it's really amazing. We stayed in the mountains in a log cabin which is really romantic, so peaceful and quiet. And in the cities (we went to Quebec) you can take a horsedrawn carriage tour which I'm sure you'll both enjoy!
Have fun, you lucky things! |

I would spend the majority of my time examining the tires of the Canadian vehicles which according to South Park are square! How do they drive on square tires? For that matter, how does a flexible tire retain it's square shape? These are the things I would spend my time to concentrating on. |

Take in as much as you can in BC and Alberta. Stay a little bit longer if you can in BC...The scenery dies down east of the Rockies.
Toronto has the CN tower. The Falls isn't as great as it use to be, but check out the Skylone tower...Sort of like the CN, but smaller, and with a better view.
I've always heard bicycling in Nova Scotia is suppose to be nice.
Winnipeg...?I think the only thing to do there is take in a Blue Bombers game.
And taking a sled dog wouldn't have been that bad of an idea, but it is summer. |

Kay 1st off there are no igloos- are cities have a lot to offer!!! There's igloos only around the icecaps way up North-but at this time of year are summers are just as hot- we have heat & humidity...When in Toronto go into the CN Tower... Ontario Place- Ontario Science center- take a walk along the boardwalk on Lake Ontario.. In Ottawa-visit the musuems-parliament . also check out the night life.. if in the fall season check out the gatineau hills in hull & in Winter Skate on the rideau Canal. In Montreal the theatres are great- the Botannical gardens or St josephs oratory... and if you decide to hit Edmonton, Alberta go to the West Edmonton mall and shop--- you wouldn't beleive the amount of stuff that's in there |

Seriously no matter where you visit, camp or fish in Canada-go to a vendor or liquor commission and buy some Canadian beer.A tall cool one doesn't clash with anything in Canada.Be cool and chill.Summer is nice in Canada.Have fun! |
