If you're just coming to visit, the answer is no. The only thing you will need is a valid passport.

Nationals of all countries require a visa to visit the USA (regardless of the point of entry) except the following:

Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Leichtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Norway, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom.

If you are British, then no you would not need a Visa to get into either Canada or to get to the USA from Canada. What you will need when you get to US customs is your flight ticket as proof of onwards travel from Canada , so they don't think you are intending to become an illegal alien!

Source: I am British and travel a lot to both America and Canada!

Where are you from? UK citizens with a scanable passport don't need a visa, but they do have to fill in a form at the border and pay a small fee. Depending on where you enter (I did Niagara) it can be really quick and hassle free.

With a british passport, you can fairly easily enter the US, but at the border you will have to go through customs etc and pay $15 (I think) to get a sort-of visa into the country, you don't need to previously apply or anything like that. This caught me out when I was travelling round ze world.

I am sure it depends on your nationality. Canadians do not need a visa to visit the US.

if you have a UK passport then no visa required! just gotta sign a visa waiver slip on entry to US (they will give that to you there) !! quite simple

jasmine
yes, unless you are a U,S, or Canadian citizen or a resident

Yeti
Not gonna happen.
My Brazillian visitor friendwanted to go to the USA for a visit.
He had to pay $$ just for an interview at the US consulate. They grilled him for an hour and then send no even though he could prove had a job to return to, a hotel name and a return ticket!!!!.

Guy With Questions
i'm pretty sure you need a visa.
