Sorry, i dont know about job prospects/opportunities. BUT Im dealing with immigration right now for my husband to immigrate to the USA with me.
Try going to their government website and apply for a immigration (permission to work) visa.

you need a work / resident visa.
You should have no problem finding a job.
I hope you enjoy our country.
To become a citizen, you apply just like anyone else, so come check us out, and if you like it, apply to stay. |

Your degree should serve you well. Toronto is the centre of Canadian media and with a population of 6-million people in Greater Toronto, there are no shortage of jobs.
Since Britain and Canada are Commonwealth countries, you can work here without becoming a citizen of Canada.
While I'm in no position to answer any questions relating to political issues such as immigration, I'd be happy to give you information on what journalism/media is like in Toronto, as I work as a journalist in the Toronto area.
If you have any questions, please email me at deron7300@yahoo.ca and I'll be happy to help you. |

"Stop Canada" no one at Immigration Canada ever promised you or anyone else a job.
That is the first lie you and your website are spreading. If people want to immigrate to Canada they should do their homework and find a job before coming here. Canada does NOT owe you or anyone else a job.
There are job shortage lists available on the Canada Immigration website. You will notice that the person who posted this question is asking about jobs? (duh)
Immigration Canada makes it VERY clear to immigrants that their degrees and professions may not be recognized in Canada. There is a list of those professions available to anyone interested in immigrating here.
Your taxi driving doctor from India? Boo hoo, no one ever told him he could be a doctor in Canada. These countries do NOT have the same medical standards that Canada and other "western" countries have.
Have you SEEN their hospitals? Filthy does not even begin to describe them.
Do you want one of these "doctors" trained in countries that sell degrees to be operating on or treating you? Countries where western medical personnel volunteer and TRY to teach the hospital staff and doctors basic hygiene? How about a doctor who cant speak english?
Would you like him/her to explain a medical procedure to you? So here's a thought, if you ever need surgery why not fly to Calcutta to have it done?
In fact why not immigrate there?
Sorry to burst your racist little bubble but I could personally name at least a dozen doctors from India and the Middle East who are practising and specializing here in my small city.
All they have to do is write the exams. So for those who dont think they should have to, again I say "boo hoo". Or one can only assume they are not qualified - anyone can call themselves a doctor.
There are also serious health considerations when placing many immigrants and refugees. A lot of third world countries have diseases that have been eradicated in the western world and some very nasty parasites you really wouldnt want to have transmitted to you.
Leprosy? Visit China or India, you will see lepers everywhere on the streets. Wanna take a chance on that? Thank God Canada has the standards it does have.
IF this taxi driver or any of the other "complainers" took the word of some bogus "immigration lawyer" or "agency" that takes their money and makes big promises to them, thats their problem. Not Canadas.
People should have more sense than it believe the lies told by these "immigration brokers".
How is it that on one thread you say you were visiting Canada from Los Angeles and then suddenly you you are Canadian?
I think I speak for most Canadians when I say if you dont like it here and you arent Canadian then leave. No one owes you a job or a free ride, and you wont find it in any country in this world. Not even India.
I worked for years for an agency that provided ESL classes, settlement services and other support to Immigrants to Canada. I placed a large number of "qualified" immigrants and refugees in architectural jobs, structures technicians, aircraft mechanics, and other professions.
Yes there were those clients who believed, wrongly, that they would come to Canada and find the streets were paved with gold and they would live in mansions, because everyone in Canada does, dont they?
Its a common myth in these countries, because they know how much Canadians earn but they dont take into consideration the cost of living in Canada. They come from countries where a really nice apartment rents for about $200 Cdn a month, I mean REALLY nice.
These people come here with false expectations and are shocked to find that no one is going to have them a bag of gold when they get here. If they cant face reality let them go back to their own countries - I dont see them leaving do you?
Because despite all their whining and complaining they feel Canada is better than India or whatever third world country they came from.
All they had to do was a little research before coming here. Which seems a logical thing to do to me. |

Hey Sherry,
I am in the process right now. It's going to take me one year and some change. That's because I live in America. It might take longer if you are applying from Europe. Once given permanent residency, you become a citizen after 3 years.
But I suggest you apply for temporary residency first. Check out this site...there will be people there to help you.
http://www.immigration.ca/discussion/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=4
But I think the people above me have given you the official site where you can print out the papers. Good luck |

http://cic.gc.ca/english/index.asp if you visit this website you will find a lot of ideas on how to migrate to Canada. You can apply for a skilled worker Visa from UK through this website. As long us you find a job in your field there is no need to be a citizen in order to work in Canada, then while working you can apply for a permanent residency. But the job you are getting has to be at least for three years. |
