From the lobster festivals in Nova Scotia in July (yes, while the Calgary Stampede is on, so you'll have to choose), to the Pioneer days festivals in the Yellowknife, there are way to many "must sees" to list.

I suggest that you make a choice of where you are going to travel, and start looking at tourist sites for those areas. There are many, many things that are must sees for all kinds of interests. (We have one of the biggest dinosaur fossil fields in Alberta.)

Visit the old port in montreal, its great but expensive.

Banff!! Absolutely spectacular. If you ski or ride, it is even more spectacular in winter. Lake Louise, ans Sunshine are my two top picks.

LadyRebecca
Get to Calgary for The Stampede - a must!

Marineland is in Niagara Falls for starters. Secondly you must buy a warm coat. And as someone else said in a year you can do just about everything, of course that depends on budget, where you will be, why you are going etc. But if you are just going to travel for a year and you have the money to do it, see it all, do it all. There is so much to see and do and it is a big country. Have fun eh.

rvsreno

The Parliament Buildings definitely. In the winter, look for the Christmas lights and in the summer, go along to bike trail beside the Ottawa river, it's great. There are a lot of museums and stuff around there too.

Magick
Get a passport before you go if you don't have one yet.

Hit the tunnels under Niagara Falls.

teddybear
you got to go to the Montreal jazz festival. its one of the best in North America.

CN Tower
Niagara Falls
Every wine region you can possibly get to - from east to west, they are Nova Scotia, Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia (sorry if I missed any)
Montreal
Old Quebec City
Calgary Stampede
Lake Louise
Whistler (if you like to ski)
Algonquin Park (best in the summer or early fall)
