I have a work appointment at Vancouver, BC, should I wear suit?

I live and work in Vancouver, BC. I believe that a suit is still appropriate for a job interview. It is better to be slightly over dressed than under dressed for an interview. Once you secure the job, you may well find that the daily wear in your particular office is more casual and then you can adjust your style of dressing to blend in more with that of your co-workers. I think you will make a better impression in your job interview wearing your suit and I also feel it shows that you are a well-groomed individual - and first impressions count so very much in a job interview.

If you were looking for a job in landscaping or logging or construction, of course you would not wear a suit but would wear the type of clothing that befits those types of employment.

I was just looking at a few of your other questions and I see you wondered about rents in Vancouver. Actually, if you don't have to live right in downtown Vancouver, more in one of the outlying yet nearby areas such as Burnaby or Coquitlam, you can find more reasonable rent. I share a 2 bedroom apartment with my daughter and rent is $680 per month. A one bedroom goes for about $600 per month. There are bachelor suites for as low as $550 per month. And these are not bad places and are not in "bad" areas of town. We have excellent commuter rail and transit service, so even if you live in the nearby areas mentioned above, you can be in downtown Vancouver in 15 or 20 minutes.

it's always better to be overly dressed up than "under" dressed... wear the suit. if no one else is wearing one at the interview, and you start to feel silly, you can always take off your jacket. (you can't do that if you show up in khakis and a tie.)

well i live right near there and im in vancover alot if you want to make a good impression just be friendly and calm, do one step down from a suit.

It depends on what kind of company you're applying to... if it's a nice office, then wear a suit. If it's a smaller business, then a nice dress shirt and pants would be better. (and yes, I'm from vancouver)
