I hear about immigration being open to Canada, Australia and New Zealand. I also hear that Canada is probably one of the best destinations. Is it true and why is it so?

Canada is not a reliable country!

I spent over three years looking hard for a job in Canada through the internet. I studied a lot about the Country. I got to know a lot about its culture, geography, history, politics and so on.

It was very hard but I got to find a job approved by HRSDC, in February of this year, to work in Edmonton, Alberta.

I submitted all required documentation to the Canadian consulate. For my surprise the immigration officer refused my work permit. He said that I do not have strong economic ties to my country.

Is it not prejudice? Is the opportunities only for riches? Is not an unemployed an human?

I tried to go legally, I did everything within the law. I had employer and place to stay. But what was the advantage of doing that legally? None - Canadian government refused my visa!

My opinion is Australia, based on many feedbacks from my friends and relatives who migrated there. Best benefits for PRs but their selection system is very stringent, good things never come cheap.

If u r a Chinese, New Zealand is not for you. They r v unfriendly. Compare to Aus, they seems nothing to shout about on nearly all aspects. Their scoring system requires u to have a job first b4 you migrate (nearly 50% of the score). Unless u r some superstar/businessman, no hope until u secure a job there first.

As for Canada, the selection system is super friendly. I once almost wanted to migrate to Canada but gave up just b4 i submitted my form due to various information i got (where u will never find on any official site):

1) your professional qualification will not be recognised. It will only be recognised for migration purposes ONLY (doctors will end up driving taxi etc.)
2) to get a ok ok job, u need to have so-called "relevant canadian working experience". note the word relevant...driving taxi, sweeping the street, washing plates are not relevant to any office job. This is a chicken & egg senario. e.g. u can't get ok ok office job if u have no relevant canadian experience. Meanwhile, how can u get the experience if u can't get an office job? end up u have no ok ok job.
3) even many Canadians cant get decent jobs there, they have to find it in the US.
4) don't hope for unemployment benefits there...if u read the conditions carefully, u will only be entitled to it AFTER u have WORKED for many months and lose the job. If u cant find one, u will never be entitled for it.
5) the icy cold weather is killing except vancouver. But in vancouver, the house price is killing and Vancouver fall within earth quake zone (though it had been many year major earthquake didn't affect In-land Vancouver as it was absorded by Vancouver island).
6) just in case u got a job, the tax rate is very heavy. you have to pay two level of income tax, one to province, one to the country.
7) .......cant remember so many....

I have a friend here (Malaysia), an accountant, sold off all properties here and migrate there. He couldn't find any job for few years and finished all his lifetime savings. So now he is back and have to start all over again.....

AGAIN, good thing never comes cheap...

why do you keep asking this question?

SteveN
You have asked this question five times, and a number of people have given their opinions on the subject.

You asked the question in both the Australia and Canada forums, which is the correct thing to do to get both Canuck and Aussie input.

If there is any specifics that were not answered, please clarify your question by elaborating on the aspects that you would like to know about Canada, Australia, or New Zealand.

To answer part of the question again, both Canada and Australia have active immigration programs (not sure about New Zealand) that are looking for skilled workers.

Various industries in both countries have had tremendous growth and are looking for qualified people to help with shortages, so they are making the process to immigrate easier for these people, as well as companies offering incentives to immigrants who come here.

I emigrated to Canada many years ago and I love it here - you can read my story at http://www.discover-southern-ontario.com/about-us.html

There is lots of information about Southern Ontario at this site http://www.discover-southern-ontario.com/index.html

No come to Australia it has the best weather and great employment prospects. Except there are allot of racists in the country and the media panders to them and their ignorance.

swenson0
Lived there for 20 years - it is OK but not better than many
other countries unless you are a fanatic about beaches and
hot weather.
