Haha... To make it easier, there is no president of Canada. We call them a Prime Minister. It's currently Stephen Harper.
A Beaver is commonly associated as the national animal, but I'm not 100% positive.
And people have stereotypes about every culture. It's not specific to Canadians. Many misconceptions include living in igloos and owning sled dogs. xD |

beaver
because most of them are occasionally right and most importantly every place has their stereotypes. Its how we pass geaography or history class..." oh yeah those ay sayin canadiens" lol |

Since the US is a republic, not a democracy (can't have a democracy when there's only two parties), the leader is defined as a "president". He's elected independently by the general public from a group of eligible candidates, and is not necessarily the leader of one of the government parties.
Canada, on the other hand, IS a democracy modelled after the British parliament. The country's leader is the party leader for the party which wins the most seats in a general election. S/he is elected by PARTY members to represent the party, not by the general public.
That being said - the current leader of Canada (as a country) is Stephen Harper (representing the Conservative party of Canada).
The national animal is typically listed as the beaver; however, in most areas the loon and the Canada Goose are equally recognized.
Sterotypes are someone's way of making themselves feel better by putting another person down ... pure and simple. They exist for all types of people and may be based on nationality, ethnicity, language, region, academic achievement, chosen profession, etc.
I've seen far more "bad driving" in the urban areas of the US than in either the urban or rural areas of Canada; as an outsider, I think it is due in large part to the cultural reinforcement that a driver's license and owning a vehicle are "rights" ... when in fact they are "privileges". |

hmmm.. then you just got a worthless job. There is no such thing as a Canadian president. Demand a re-election!!!! |

1. Steven Harper (our Prime Minister not president)
2. Beaver
3. Most come from slight cultural differences like pronounciation but our driving in Canada is actually pretty awful. (A lot of people try to turn the merges into parking lots) |

u r dumb

first of all canada does not have a president
we have a prime minister (due to british history our goverment is modelled after theirs)
Not all people stereotype Canadians it seems Americans do not sadly know much about other countries then themselves most of the time .Americans have steretypes as well you know as crazy gun crazy people etc
ANd by the way it's not the moose but the canadian beaver .A hard worker !

Bad drivers do you realize how many americans as well come into canada and get into accidents here.
We're so bad we can drive through winter storms . Last year their was a tourist driving her car from Florida who slid into my car three times .I was at a four way stop sign and she was behind me and could not control her car !!!
She apologized and said she was American and not use to driving in our winter weather conditions |

oh dear god, please tell me you know that we have a prime minister instead of a president and this is just some silly joke. |

1. Prime Minister not president. Both mean the same thing: leader of the country
2. The beaver
3. Every country has it's stereotypes, but Canadians do have a reputation of being bad drivers, especially the one's from Toronto (as well as superiority complex) |
|

Hayley
|
1. No president, prime minister.
2. Beaver
3..... hmmm well I never heard the bad drivers thing. sorry. |

Your textbook has Canadian's Prime Minister as "President"?! <=/
You should answer question 3 cause, I'm pretty sure that stereotype of Canadian's being bad drivers didn't originate from Canada. |

he is not a president , prine minister stephen harper national animal beaver national summer sport box lacrosse national winter sport hockey . national beer molson canadian . bad drivers yeah highways are bad plus in the winter all we have are dog sleds , snowshoes , live in a small community as ridicolous as it may seem we have at least 800 banded bald eagles and thousands of beavers the bald eagle in flight can see why you chose it . another area of british colombia has over 10,000 people watch thier bald eagle population . another one your teacher will not get . if you have a map os south west british colombia you will see a area marked point roberts . this is a part of the united states that is in canada . the population is 100 percent american you do have to go through american and canadian customs each way . and if you come in by small boat same thing EH |
