it usually takes about 5 days to get to you but there are also charges for customs usually.

I would check the ups website for estimated delivery times and prices.

Yes, that sounds right. UPS charges have gone up because of gas prices. It can take up to a week to get it. You could have hit the 'estimate shipping cost" button, and it would have given you an estimate of what it was going to cost you before you won the item. Sometimes the shipping is more than the item.

40 bucks is a little high but you should have inquired about that before you bid on the item sellers can charge what they like so its up to buyers to decide if they want to pay it before bidding

I am not only a Ebay buyer but I have a on-line computer equipment business I run through it, with UPS you will recieve a tracking e-mail and a number to us to track its progress, and at this time of year it should take 10-14 days, I get spare parts from the U.S shipped here to S Ont, and most times it take that.

Once all the paper work is done, and the seller has it picked up and it is in transit, Customs is only for us Canadians, they like to get there share, one thing about UPS is they like the Canadian and US Postal services delivery people, if it should be your not home the day of the delivery they will only come once before having it sent to a pick-up center, UPS may also charge a landing fee, y last one came with a $20 can extra, this is not the sellers charge.

The shipping should have been discussed before you bid, but it sounds fair. Ups is certainly faster than usps. Ask for the tracking number to check the progress on line. They are pretty efficient. Always check payment requirements and shipping fees before you bid, not after.

I have shipped and received from Canada. It usually takes a little longer because of Customs.
The shipping price may vary. It is according how she shipped it...Fragile, tracking numbers, etc.
I wouldn't worry until after about 10 days.

You should received it fairly quicly--one to two business days max.

The cost sounds about right. 18 lbs is pretty heavy and no doubt it will be akwardly packaged. Not sure about customs fees and how that will work out for you.
The seller should email you a tracking number, if not, you can ask for it. You can also follow up on the UPS site

UPS is pretty fast (something like 1-3 days, I believe) and also pretty expensive, compared to regular mail.
If the information is not already given on the item pages, the best thing you could do is write the seller and ask her if she knows how long it will take.
