Not all Americans think Canadians say eh! all the time and not all Canadians say eh either. Some Canadians say eh! on the other hand some not. Fore example I don't say eh! all the time.So whenever you make a generalization or use abstractions or vague descriptions, follow up with clear details. |

It's just a trademark attributed to Canada, regardless of rather it is prevalently used there or not. |

Who cares? I love Canadians, no matter what slang they use.
We sometimes say "eh" here in northern California, as well.
Long live Canada and all of their special ways! |

I am a Canadian, I know very few people who say eh.
However I do find the prevalence of "eh" to be greater in rural areas than urban. I have lived in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and a few of their suburb and rarely encountered eh.
However upon visiting places like Timmins and Canmore, I have heard it much more. |

I'm canadian. and yes, we do say "eh"! C'mon, it's sooo true!
And if it wasn't, then nobody would assume that we say it! |

because in some parts of Canada people do. we're not just making this stuff up here. but it's the same with the south. people assume we're uneducated and that we say Y'all every two words, some people do, and some people don't. stereo tying just comes with the territory. |

I live just outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba. I don't say the "eh" phrase. I have never heard any of my family or friends say it either. However, I suppose that a large number of Canadians do say it. It really isn't something I jump up and down about, that's for sure. I would rather we were known for something far better. Don't you agree? |

I am also canadian and have an american boyfriend. I don't think I say 'eh' too much, but do they ever love making fun of me when I am down there. We just don't notice it. |

When I think of Canada I think of fights at hockey games at near-riot levels, beer, and the "Bare Naked Ladies".... but "eh" ? Where did that come from? |

That's a new one on me. All I can think it is from years ago when these two guys had the same name like Daryl & Daryl and did comedy. They were on some short lived show in the states. |

Joey Jeremiah and Caitlyn Ryan never really said, "eh" all that often either.
Let me ask Snake and Wheels.
All I notice is when Canadians say aboot instead of about. |

Yes, the most unpopular answer ever ... Blame Canada
Blame Canada
With all their beady little eyes
And flapping heads so full of lies
Blame Canada
Blame Canada
We need to form a full assault
It's Canada's fault!
Blame Canada
FUK CANADA!!!!!!!! |
