I mailed a letter to Vancouver BC Canada 13 days ago. It has not arrived yet. Is this a normal time-line? |
I am not certain if I should be worried about this letter, it had a money order in it that I may need to reissue, but I don't want to jump the gun on cancelling the money order and starting over. |

It does depend on where you shipped it from. We receive money orders to our company here in Vancouver and sometimes coming from the US can take upwards of 3 weeks. On the other hand, it can arrive within a week!
It is "that time of year" now, so you should expect delays - good ol' Holiday season!
You should be able to call Canada Post for an estimated time of arrival... but the person that posted before me is right, slow, slower... slowest lol. |

It took a letter I send just across a small village 18 days....so your 13 days are still good. Canada Post moves in mysterious ways....slow, slower, slowest. |

Depends on where you mailed it from.
From a small rural area, expect at least 1 day for it to be sorted and picked up for moving on to the next stop.
Add another day as it gets transported to the next "major" sorting center.
Add another day if it also has to go through a regional center (like Toronto, Montreal, Winnepeg, or Halifax) if the regional center is not also the closest "major" center.
Add a fourth day as it arrives in Vancouver BC.
Add a fifth day for ultimate delivery to the end address (in Vancouver).
Now ... if you were sending from the US you ALSO need to add more time.
Like a day for the sorting at the US regional center.
Anywhere from 1-9 days to actually be processed across the international border (USPS trucks don't travel in Canada, and CP trucks don't travel in the US, so you're waiting for a "hole" to open on a Canadian truck).
So - within Canada, best case is about 5 business days. More likely number is 10 business days.
From US to Canada - best case is about 7 business days, more likely number is around 20-22 business days.
Oh yes ... you're ALSO just starting in to the high-volume holiday postage, so you might need to think about there being anywhere from 3-5 business days added there, as well (Canada or US origin). |

canada post is slow...but if u mailed it from vancouver, then maybe get worried. if u mailed it outside vancouver...in particular outside canada, then i would say its typical of canada post. |

Yes this is very normal especially around Christmas time when I sometimes gets my Christmas cards way into January (from the U.K.). They are also very good at sending things to the wrong address - I am now friends with the family who live at number 66 across the street! I live at number 66 on the other side! You have to love Canada Post!! |
