Well..I see you are the "Top Contributor in Sports" so I have a suggestion for you and it is a current event and is being closely watched by all true Canadian hockey afficianados et al and right now it's one of the most interesting events in Canada ! Yes...I know the election in happening also...lol.

After years of the same theme song for "Hockey Night In Canada" it was decided to change it and Canadians were asked for submissions and did it get interesting!

Anyway just a suggestion....and I'm not even giving you a site to look at ! *lol*

Recent controversy with an abortion rights doctor (Morgentaler) receiving the Order of Canada
And as a side bar, the Vancouver Olympics is 2010, not 2012...there was a protest today about that as well, about how the Olympics are taking place on lands stolen from the native people of BC
And not so big anymore, but one of the ministers had a girlfriend who used to date a motorcycle gang member...security risks...sensitive papers left at her place...was over seas at the time, so a bit foggy on the details...Julie C~~~...

Thre are tons of topics. The election that will take place next Tuesday. The bilingual question - it keeps popping up and now there are suggestions that Mandarin be added as a fourth official language.
The Olympics are coming in 2012, and it appears that Canada has seriously underestimated the cost of the security budget - by a factor of about 10, so there's going to be a huge overrun on the cost of the Olympics. And of course, there is the current economic seesaw.
You can google up a Canadian newspaper - Globe and Mail for example, and read through the paper to see what catches your interest.

Omar Khadr is a Canadian in Guantanamo Bay... he was 15, his father took him to Afghanistan and they fought the Americans. His father is dead now and he has been in Gitmo for 6 years, I have no issue with a prisoner being tried and found guilty and sentenced, but none of that has happened. Surely having a passport should entitle the bearer, especially a minor, to some diplomatic and legal support and representation. It is a scary sign that we allow one of ours to just vanish for life, without a trial or lawyer.
We currently have a minority Conservative government, who have washed their hands of the issue. If Harper gets his majority, while McCain wins in the south, this whole continent will be Republican and that is SCARY for human rights here.

The Election? But thats not really interesting, everyone knows that Harper's going to win again.
I know: The playoff's are about to start and the Canucks won almost all of their pre-games!!!
