It's not really dangerous, but there are definitely better areas of the city. It really depends on what kind of neighbourhoods are around you. Kennedy and Ellesmere isn't too bad, but there are lots of public housing units nearby which some people do not want to live near, as it typically means increased crime.

Scarborough is in general not as "friendly" as the rest of Toronto, so just watch out and you'll be fine.

I grew up in Scarborough, it's not that bad! But Kennedy Station is definitely not one of its' highlights. I saw a guy get stabbed there once. Try not to live very near a station if possible. Meadowvale and Ellesmere is very nice, I lived there and it's not impossible to get to Kennedy or other public transport. North York is better.

the city is never safe.

Its likely that you will get stabbed or shot so i would not recommend it.

Anywhere near the subway line is not as safe as away from it.

If you have a car, look elsewhere.
Most places near Huntingwood are pretty good, stay away from Markham south of 401
I have lived at Warden and Finch (safe), Neilson and Sheppard (not safe), Pharmacy and Finch (relatively safe), Birchmount and Huntingwood (was good), Morningside and Ellesmere (yuck) and Kingston and Galloway (yuck)

KURT
Stay away from Kennedy st and most of that area. Stay away from Scarborough actually if you can..

i don't like scarborough in general. it's ridden with crime and the people who live there arent the nicest in toronto. i know property prices are extremely high in toronto but if you can, look elsewhere.
