Marriage for immigration purposes is considered fraud, and the immigration department would have you out on your ear in no time. And trust me, they do investigate. Anyways, it doesn't guarantee they would even let you in the country, and you do not automatically gain citizenship and all its benefits.

While Canada has some pretty liberal policies about immigration, they don't like it when people try to abuse their compassion. If you were to marry a Canadian citizen for the sole purpose of entering the country, and were discovered, you would be deported back to the country you came from, and the girl could be prosecuted for a criminal act and possibly imprisoned. What you are asking about is illegal. If you want to come to Canada do it legally like everyone else.

That's called "a marriage of convenience"--It's illegal and will get you deported and stripped of any chance of citizenship

first it would be considered fraud, and they will find out because part of the process is an interview about your relationship. second, it will take you just as long to get a resident card by marriage as it will if you applied for it by yourself. I've known my husband for about 10 years, we've been married for a year and have a daughter who was born in Canada and I still have a long wait for my resident card. I sent my application in in the middle of june. so my advice to you would be don't get married just because you want to move to Canada. it won't work and if you get caught you can go to prison for about 10 years and you'll be fined a lot of money.

it would be fraud

Well that would be illegal.

You should take a vacation to Canada for a month or two and start looking for a girlfriend but the better idea is to do it legally. I don't no what you want me to say. I am Canadian and I love living here but why do you want to immigrate. Don't you like where you live?
