To add to the information you have already been given here is a site with links to all the universities in Canada. You can browse through and examine their programs, and see which university would best meet your needs.

University of British Columbia Vancouver

What are you studying? Because it makes a difference - University of Guelph is great for science, not great for engineering, for example.

You should really let people know what you are planning to study. Some schools are better than others for certain programs. For example, for medecine, I would be looking at McGill University in Montreal, but for law degrees, I might consider University of Ottawa, York University, or Queen's University.

I would also ask whether you will be renting a dorm on campus or plan to live in the city. The high cost of housing in certain cities (Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto) may force you to consider universities in a city that has a better housing situation (New Brunswick, Manitoba, Nova Scotia)

Finally, do you plan to study in English, or is a French university equally acceptable? If you do not speak or understand French, then you cross off Universite de Montreal and UQAM, for example.

Will you be working here in Canada while a student? You may want to find a city where jobs are more readily available, or something that would allow you to work as a student in your field over the summer so you can get experience.

Answering these questions will impact what university should be recommended.

MacLeans Magazine in Canada also does a survey each year to find out what students think of various universities, and eleven Canadian schools were included in the rankings.

Hope this helps.

Good ones? Or ones that will let you in when you spell words with numbers?

McClanes magazine rates Canadian Universities every years. It is far from unbiased.
