There are many great places to visit in Canada, including Quebec. Here's my input based on personal experiences:
BC/Alberta:
Vancouver & Victoria are great cities to visit in BC.
What's even better? Driving thought the Rockies. Go to Jasper and Banff. Rent a canoe on Moraine Lake and take the gondola ride up near Lake Louise for amazing experiences.
Prairie:
Some lovely landscapes, and nothing beats the beautiful open Prairie sky. I really liked Winnipeg: there are some good historical sites and a Canadian Mint to visit.
Ontario:
There are some beautiful old towns worth exploring in the southwestern part of the province. Catch a play in Niagara-on-the-Lake (Shaw Festival) or Stratford. You could spend a week here in Toronto with plenty leftover to see: plays, shopping, many cultural events, cultural areas (ie. Little Italy, Little India, Chinatown), sights (ie. CN Tower, Fort York, Science Centre, Zoo), ferry ride to the islands, baseball game, parks (ie. High Park), great city walks, a safe & vibrant downtown. If you're coming to Canada, it's a "can't miss". The drive from Sudbury up around Lake Superior to Thunder Bay is awe-inspiring.
Quebec:
You should absolutely no problems in Quebec (I don't know what stories you've heard...). Montréal has a great old city, many shops, good food. English is understood by most, however a polite "bonjour" (hello) or "merci" (thank you) is always appreciated. Québec City is a beautiful and the most European-feeling city in the US & Canada. It's fortified, a UNESCO world heritage site, and is currently celebrating its 400th anniversary. There's less English than in Montréal, but since there's a fair amount of tourism you should have no problem getting by. If you like nature, you could go up to the Lac St Jean area for whale watching. The Eastern Townships are also very lovely.
New Brunswick:
The Bay of Fundy National Park is very nice. St. Andrews by the sea is very picturesque. You could visit Acadia in the north, and Fredericton has some nice historic sites.
Have a good trip! |

Forget Australia Dundee is to old and the beer is awfulllll. Try Toronto or Quebec City. Montreal is hard to beat for it's night life. Quebec for a romantic get away is one of the nicest cities in the world. Toronto can be fun with plenty of nightlife and attractions. |

This depends on the time of year that you are going.
I would say London is a waste of your time. It's a pretty small city and a university town, not much to do there.
Toronto is great, I love it here. Lots to see, summer and winter.
St. Johns is small aswell. I've never been there but I would think it's a place to stay away from in the winter.
Montreal is sick!! Good bars, great architecture. I love it there and would live there if I wasn't living in Toronto. |

I happen to really like Prince Edward Island. It's super nice. It's got beautiful beaches, really beautiful towns, beautiful lighthouses, ridiculously nice people and the worlds' best Ice Cream - Cows. I'd highly recommend visiting CharlotteTown.
Montreal and Quebec are beauutiful as well. They're amazing places to visit, especially in the fall. In Montreal the people do speak a considerable amount of english, if you're worried about the language. And while Quebec is more francophone, it's really not all that hard to navigate. Many people do speak English - or at least I found that. I know very few people who've been to Montreal who didn't enjoy their stay.
Toronto is okay. I'm not a huge fan. People in Canada who aren't FROM Toronto tend to dislike Toronto. I dunno. It's okay, I guess. I just find it's a little gloomy, a little to big. Sometimes people from the GTA (greater Toronto Area) piss me off. It does have some amazing markets and theatres though. That's the big bonus.
St. Johns is actually kind of fun. I love the Newfie accents though - they're honestly awesome. It's not the first place I'd have thought of, but it's decent
Never been to London. It's not really a popular vacation spot. I can't really think of anything there worth going to see.
I'm sure Australia is lovely if you're okay with the 23 hour flight to get there... Lame. |
