I want to move to Prince Edward Island, Canada to open a B&B. What is life like there?

I have not been there, but my partner has and thats why we chose there. I'm from the UK and hope to gain Canadian citizenship.

Hi, I'm from PEI. Born and raised.

PEI is a nice place to live. Slower pace. Safe. Friendly. But, unless you were BORN here you will never be an Islander. ; )

You should know that tourism hasn't been that great for the past few years, though it might improve as the gas prices drop. Also, be prepared for a slow winter as there is not that much to do (compared to big cities) and tourism is close to nil.

If you like the arts, there is lots happening year round. Also, we have an QMHL hockey team, and a pretty good university.

I have lived all over the world, but I am always glad to get home. I think you will enjoy it here.

I'm from PEI and I love everything about it, except for the lack of job opportunities here in the winter months. The summers here are perfect. There is nothing better than getting off work and being able to go for a walk on the beach. Cavendish is always a busy area in the summer as it is filled with tourists but when October/November comes, it's a ghost town!! Everything shuts down and barely any cars around. I live on the North Shore area and love living here. All of PEI is beautiful and I wish you all the best with the B&B if you move here! :)

Have you read Anne of Green Gables?
It's a small island, hence a small community, but very pretty place.
Maybe a good starting point is to read something about it:
Check out the government site: http://www.gov.pe.ca/
And a visitors' guide: http://www.gov.pe.ca/visitorsguide/
Remember that it gets quite cold there in winter time!

Hi there!
I'm from New Brunswick, which is right next door to P.E.I.
P.E.I. is a very beautiful island. The living there can be slow at times because it's mostly rural.Potato farms as far as the eye can see!The tourist season can get really busy though. The people are friendly.
If you want to do any serious shopping, all you have to do is drive across the Confederation Bridge into N.B. and go to Moncton.
I hope you have luck with your B&B!

God love the Newfoundlanders! PEI is beautiful, relaxed, and an all-around lovely place to be.
