I will be moving to Canada....? |
I will be moving to Canada in a few months time. I applied for the immigration in 2001 and qualified the interview. Am done with the medical and the pre-departure orientation and am awaiting the visa to be stamped. It might take another 3-4 months coz its already 2 months now. I wanted to know which city I should migrate to. I donot know anyone in Canada and am currently working for an airline in Pakistan. Any suggestions which place is good in terms of job/biz opportunities. |

What careers are you interested in? Your career path will help dictate where you may want to live. Also, what lifestyle would you prefer? As the previous person stated, Fort McMurray in Alberta is desperately seeking workers for oil production. It pays well but it's a dangerous job. There are also construction jobs in British Columbia as they are preparing for the Olympics. If you are interested in business, then Toronto is your best bet. You may also want to check with people of similar backgrounds to see what advice they can offer you. If you are of Pakistani descent, there is a large Pakistani community in Brampton Ontario (suburb of Toronto). Good luck to you! |

for your trade, I would suggest Montreal. If you look on the internet for aviation jobs in Canada, Montreal has more than do all the others. A major company there is Bombardier aerospace, Other choices might be Toronto, lots of your countrymen there, Edmonton or Vancouver. |

Don't ignore the small towns and cities in Canada. They don't always have the largest foreign born populations, but they can be welcoming, and have jobs and housing.
However, if your work history is with an airline in Pakistan, then you might want to consider cities with airports, airlines, travel agents and such. Check out the websites of some Canadian airlines: Air Canada, West Jet, Canadian North, and the websites of airports. |

edmonton is a great place to start out the edmonton international airport is looking for steady people and pay great wages just be prepared to pay higher rental or buying costs for housing but the prices are not totally out of this world contary to what people say you just need a decent job and there is lots of tm to go around out here. another place that may be of intest to you is Manitoba ents are reasonable and its never an impossibility of finding work you just have to be persistant and you will find what you need |

Look into Alberta (Fort McMurray). There is currently a shortage of workers there (the oil industry needs alot of people). |
