Osborne Village is a good place to spend an afternoon. After that you can check out the outdoor cafes on Corydon. There's a place that serves really good gelati.

Assiniboine Park is a great place to go. Check out the Leo Mol sculpture garden adjacent to Winnipeg's best flower garden IMHO.

If you'd like a nice drive, head North on Main Street towards Lockport. Look for the River Road turn. (the same turn off to get to the Larter's at St. Andrews). Stop at Captain Kennedy's and other historical sites along the way. If you have time, travel further North and tour Lower Fort Garry.

There's lots of great restaurants. The Fusion Grill. Bombolini's. One of my favs is Deen's Diner on Marion. Authentic Carribean cuisine. Try the Roti and Chick Pea doubles.

If you're still stuck for suggestions, check out where.ca/winnipeg. You'll find lots of things to do there.

The forks is always a safe bet. Check out the lower floor of the Johnston Terminal. I don't know if it's still there but they used to have racks and racks of old and antique household items. Really neat to see this stuff that used to be in "Mom's kitchen"

Also Uptown Magazine online is a great source for stuff to do in the 'Peg.

If you're looking for some decent bars, check out the Kingshead Pub, or Shannons. The Kingshead features live bands. If clubbing is more your style, the Empire is the place for you.

If you like baseball, check out a Goldeyes game. For football, head down to the stadium for a Bombers game. Our hometown fans will provide as much excitement as the game itself cheering our teams on.

The Red River Ex in on until June 24th. Don't know if you'll have a chance to check that out. If not, take in a day of thoroughbred racing at Assinaboia Downs.

I hope you enjoy your stay in the 'Peg!

There are so many things in Winnipeg to see!

I suggest The Forks to start. It is not only a historic site of where aboriginal people met for thousands of years, but it is where the 2 main rivers in Winnipeg meet. Take a Splash Dash boat and see the "Red" water meet the "Assiniboine". There are also markers to see where the flood waters came to in 1997 and the 1950 (year?) flood. An elevator can take you to the top of The Forks Market for a neat view. Right across the river by bridge is St Boniface. The history there is amazing...the Bascilica, the French history....the Grey Nuns etc. The shops in that area and The Forks are neat.

There is also a tourism booth at The Forks in Johnson Terminal to help you too. Winnipeg's one way streets can be nasty to navigate.

There are "ghost tours" you make like to take you to some our haunted areas....which tend to be historic.

Check out the Zoo and see the polar bear that is on our toonies. Speaking of which....you can also take tours of the Royal Canadian Mint...nothing better that seeing money!

Depending when you come, there is Taste of Manitoba (near the Legislative Building...also worth a trip to see the Golden Boy) There is also The Fringe Festival of plays around town. Folklarama is our celebration of all the groups that make up Winnnipeg...excellent food and history!

When you go to Brandon, stop in to see Manitoba's Desert which is about 40 mins from Brandons. You can hike the dunes on paths or take a guided horse wagon through it all. Its very neat, and many people (including Manitobans!) don't know it is there. It is "officially" called Spirit Sands and it is by Glenboro.

I guess I am a bit biased on the attractive women part...since I AM a woman...but yeah...scenery isn't limited to nature. ;)

One of the links I listed has a Travel Manitoba Card mentioned and where to get it. It's free, so take advantage of it! I think it said you could get one at The Forks. Discounts are always nice!

Have fun...and enjoy Friendly Manitoba!

Excuse me Ibanman! Just because you don't like the women there doesn't mean anybody else can't! What if he finds someone who he likes in Winnipeg? Then you will be sorry!

Anyways, you should check out Bears on Broadway and The Forks and Polo Park mall is where all the girls hang out, don't misuse women, though. When the time comes you will find a girl.

Ha ha. Advice from a 14 year old!

We were just there this weekend for a funeral and drove to Morden (an hour and a half outside the city)
it was a lovely drive, big sky - and the prarie - is pretty -
we loved Morden (my husbands mom is from there and we laid her brother to rest).. quaint -
Just to "drive" and see big sky - and the elevators - good photo op. (for an east coast american girl like me).

I agree Grand Beach is a must see,it's about 1 hr drive north of wpg and it's awesome. Stay at a Can ad inns hotel you'll have a bar right in your hotel for night life , And I always heard that Winnipeg has the most

Beautiful women you'll ever meet!!! Well you'll see !!
Have fun.
