Banff really is beautiful, but hotels there won't be cheap. British Columbia in my opinion is the most beautiful province. If you go to Ontario, you should go to Niagra Falls, but It's not somewhere that you would want to spend 3 weeks, also hotels won't be cheap here either. Jasper National Park, like Banff is beautiful also. It really depends on what kind of holiday you are looking for, what part of the country you are thinking of going to, budget etc. Canada is big, so you likely wouldn't go to Banff and Niagra Falls as they are very far from each other. The West Edmonton Mall is a shoppers paradise, it has in it an amusement park with rides, and also a nice water park with wave pool. They also have a hotel right in the mall that has theme rooms(Again likely pricey). You could drive to Jasper from Edmonton(probably around a 4 hour drive if I remember correctly). If you would like to do some serious shopping, eating, mountains and lakes, I would sugguest the Edmonton-Jasper thing. Good luck, enjoy your holiday, hope I helped. |

Canada is HUGE. Can you narrow it down a little? Do you want urban? Nature? East, west, central, north?
For natural beauty, my top pick would be Jasper, Alberta. Very much like Banff, but a little less crowded. In fact, the whole region - Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise - is amazing.
Then there's the cities: Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver... Each has its own charms, but you can't see everything in 3 weeks. ;) |

I have travelled from one end of Canada to the other. It takes alot more than 3 weeks!
In my opinion B.C. is the most beautiful & scenic. Next I would pick Nova Scotia.

Niagara Falls. That's all I can think of. Cause... Canada sucks... just kidding. There is also a place called Wheels Inn, it's in Ontario. I went there once and it was really fun. Have fun! |

If you want to see the Canadian Rockies, consider seeing them on horseback. I don't know if it's still in business, but there was once a group based in Banf which took people into the Rockies on horses. The base camp was a bunch of teepees, and every day there would be a ride to a different place. It's much easier than backpacking. |
