Depends on what you want to do when you are there, if you just want to sight see and all that then the territories/yukon would be a good start, if you want to hunt or fish, Northern Saskatchewan and Manitoba would be the top 2 choices for that, Northern BC is very nice as well. Northern Manitoba(Churchill) you can go and see the polar bears.
I live in Northern Saskatchewan and there is nothing like it......it is very beautiful. |

In the summer, I think the Yukon territory will provide lots of history and pleasant weather. |

Northern Canada is a huge place! I am guessing that you want somewhere that you can simply drive to? If you are at the west side of the continent, then The Yukon is probably the place. I have attached a couple of URLs.
However there is a great deal more to the north than the Yukon so you might want to check out the NWT tourist site - URL also included in Sources. Perhaps Wood Buffalo is more to your liking and it is further east.

Yes, I agree with the last answerer. Northern Canada is very large area, and travelling there will take a lot of planning.
The Yukon is huge ... and I think it is the most scenic place in Northern Canada, because the landscape is varied, and there are lots of mountains there. In the Yukon, Whitehorse is your main centre ... where you might go to regroup. From Whitehorse, you can travel up to Dawson City, which is, about 5 hours from there. Dawson is the place where there was the big Gold Rush, and there is a lot of history there. From Dawson, you can drive up to the Tombstone Mountains Range, and actually drive up to Inuvik, which is part of the NWT.
This would be an amazing trip. Another trip from Whitehorse is to drive the Alaska Highway. The next major city from there is Edmonton, which is an 25 hour trip. The views on this highway are absolutely breathtaking! The wildlife you will see are amazing.
The Yukon is beautiful!! You will really enjoy this trip. If you go in the summer, it will basically not get dark there, and the weather will be very warm. And if you go in the winter, you might see Northern Lights, but you are not guaranteed. In the winter, you will only get about 5 hours of light a day. |
