If I'm writing a letter to the states, should I put Canadian stamps or American stamps? |
I'm from Ontario, and I want to send a letter to Florida. Should I get Canadian stamps or American ones? And how many do I put? I've never sent a letter before, sorry for being naive. |

You are from Ontario in Canada. You are trying to send a letter to Florida in USA. Assuming that you are in Canada when you mail your letter, it is Canada Post that will handle getting that letter to the US border, and then US Postal Service takes it from there. Since your letter STARTED in Canada, you pay the postage in Canadian stamps.
So you pay the standard Canadian postage for mailing a letter to USA. That is currently CAD$0.96 or if you are putting one of the stamps with the "P" on it, just put two of them and you will be fine.
For mailing from Canada to any country OTHER than USA, you would need to pay the international postage rate of CAD$1.60
By the way, if you were on vacation in USA and wanted to send a letter to Florida, you would use the US domestic letter postage, which is US$0.42 if I did my checks right on the US Postal Service website. |

lol is this a joke or a serious question? I'll answer it anyway, for your information, if you live in Canada you should use Canadian stamps vice versa "the other way around" you should use American stamps if you live in the US....hope that helps :) |

You pay for postage in the country from which the correspondence will be mailed. Unless you intend to drive across the border into the US you will need to pay for Canadian postage. |

To mail a letter from Canada to anywhere in the world, you use a Canadian stamp or stamps, but the value of the stamps you need to send a letter to the U.S.A. is about twice as much as what you need to send a letter within Canada. I believe right now it's 96 cents. I tried to check that for you on the Canada Post web sight, but I can't find that information there. Anyway to be sure, just go to the counter at your local post office. You can either purchase a stamp worth 96 cents or whatever it is right now, or use multiple stamps that add up to the same amount. |

Just go to the post office and tell them you would like to mail a letter to the US and they will give you the appropriate stamp |

Go the mailing place in your area and they will tell you what stamps to use, and how many you need. I would use Canadian stamps. I mean, you wouldn't use Australian stamps if you were mailing it there. But the post office would be able to tell you the amount of stamps you need for sure. Then next time you already know. |

Canadian stamps if the letter is mailed in Canada. How many depends on how much the letter weighs - when you go to the post office to get your stamps, they'll weigh the letter for you. |

you will need special USA stamps
go to your post office and tell them you would like to mail a letter to the USA and they will fix you up! It is a bit more expensive to mail to the usa. The stamp is almost a dollar now. |
