If I become Canadian do I get free healthcare and free university education?

Additional Details
Thanks for clarifying that, though it would help nursing school.

You would get heavily subsidized university (A foreigner might pay $12,000 tuition per year while a Canadian might pay $3500 for the same program).

In BC, you would pay a maximum of about $540/year for health care premiums, less if your income is below about $20,000/year. This includes hospital stays, dr. visits. Does NOT include prescription drugs or dental care.

You are kidding right?
There is no "free" health care in Canada. It is universal health care, and all Canadian citizens and qualified legal residents pay for it through taxes. You can't just move here and be enrolled in the provincial plans.
There is no free university education.

Things that are FREE in Canada:

Air - but only if you take it as is. Filtered or conditioned air costs somebody so somewhere along the line it is factored into the price of your rent or your electricity bill or the products you are buying in store with A/C

Water - but only if you find it in a natural spring or drink it directly out of a lake, river etc. Of course some places it is dangerous to do this and will cost you to be treated for whatever bugs you pick up. Other places - like in the Rockies - there are so many minerals in it you could end up with a really bad case of the runs.

Everything else has a price - might be hidden in the cost of your rent or in the price of the products you buy or is paid for with tax money. Even the freedoms that we have like freedom of speech and freedom of religion have have been paid for with money, time and lives and the price is continuous. "Free" is a very relative word.

To address your question - NO! No Free healthcare and no free education.

No... none of us get free university education, and health care isn't free either... espeically considering what province you live in.

This is very basic information about Canada... just google it.

Where did you get this idea that Canadians get free healthcare or university? So many times on Yahoo! Answers do I note how many prospective immigrants believe that things are free here. As all the others have said, health care is NOT free. We pay very high taxes for health care and not everything is covered. If one wants or needs a doctor's note excusing one from work, that must be paid for up front.
University is not free and foreign students would have to pay upwards of twice the tuition citizens would have to pay.

It sounds like you are interested in coming to school here in Canada. If that's the case, you'd be best to take the time to learn what's actually involved instead of relying on dreams of free everything. Look through http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/index.asp and find out for yourself what you must do.

If, after the years long process you become a Canadian, you are entitled to Medicare. Like the previous poster noted it's not 'really free'. There are costs that you have to pay out of pocket.

As for University...no clue why you think it's free. You're looking at $5000 per year +++ depending on where you go.

There is no free university...not sure where you got that idea!
And if you become a Canadian after the long process, than you would qualify for the heath care system, but this is paid for through taxes...

Nothing is free in Canada.
