If canada dropped the monarchy, who's portrait should (or would) be on each coin , plus the 20 dollar bill?

It would definately need to be a Canadian icon. Whether that be someone well known internationally such as an actor/singer or known only in Canada so that when people come to visit they need to ask "Who/what is that?" is open for debate.

A few of my votes would be people such as Don Cherry (Hockey Night In Canada), John Morgan (Royal Canadian Air Farce - Died 2004), Gordie Howe (NHL Hall of Famer), Gord Downie (Tragically Hip), Raine Maida (Our Lady Peace), Steven Page (Barenaked Ladies).

Our maybe something else that ISN'T a person. Something Tim Horton's related maybe like an iced cappuchino or a timbit.

Pearson on the $20. Or if you are getting radical about it like everyone else, then artist Bill Reid as his sculptures are all over the new $20.

I would put McDonald on all the coins as the first PM and take him off the $10 and put on Trudeau.

I hope we never have to Contemplate that, We should always keep the Monarchy. Its what makes us Canada and the US just the US

I think front and back of coins should be represented by the same item like the loon, beaver and so on. As for the 20 dollar bill, maybe it could simply be a collage of items from all provinces.

Dude
It would be former PM's, MacDonald, McKenzie King, Pearson, Diefenbaker, Trudeau, etc.

Just kidding. Probably a beaver or a moose or something.

I believe Quebec would do their own bills and put Henri Bourassa or Rene Levesque, or Jean Coutu

Anyway, seriously I think they should put a beaver (like the ones from Bell) or the CN tower, a polar bear would be also fine

Worst case scenario you can put Avril Lavigne!
