ONLY IF YOU DO NOT SPEAK ENGLISH !

Glad I could help.....................

What language do you speak? Contrary to popular belief, we don't speak Eskimo, we speak English and when in the Province of Quebec French and English are spoken.

Hope you all come up and visit us some time soon.

In The Northwest Territories there are more than 20 different languages spoken. The NWT legislature has 7 (or is it 11?) official languages. Nearly everyone in Canada speaks English, but in Quebec, they pretend they don't understand ... "Parlez vous Francais?"

Oh yes of course, our language is a mix of Native American, Eskimo, French and English....oh and lets not forget Newfoundlander. It's a very very hard language to learn and it takes years and years to learn. You are better off staying in the U.S. where you don't have to use your brain.

Goldista
Prior to going there - Sign up for a "English Spelling " course, and after that you may learn to write properly.

Cute question-----well if it is the spoken language, Canada has two official languages: English and French. The majority of Canadians speak english, where as the predominate langauage in Quebec is french, but however many are bilingual in Quebec (french and/or english). In other parts of Canada, there are "french speaking" communities, but english is the working language. If you speak english or french, you will be served in government in either spoken or writen languages.

Now if you are talking "other languages" none english or french, you will soon notice here that many world languages are spoken--like in Toronto and other major cities in Canada--we are a very divers peoples of languages and culture. Think of it this way, if you were in the south western states the two dominate languages there would be english and spanish---here its mostly english all across Canada generally, and mostly french i Quebec.

Now as for body and other sort of "languages" LOL its all the same--wink, wink; smile, smile; laugh, laugh;--just go to any Canadian site and learn sister---we don't bite up here---just our guard beavers, but if you feed them apples they seem to calm down eh!

firehorsetwo
Yes, you have to learn our language. English.

By the looks of it, you are still trying to learn it. :p

You could try to learn French too, but it isn't used as widely as English. It depends on where in Canada you are headed. Even Quebec speaks English.

moglie
Not only will you have to learn to speak ENGLISH PROPERLY but you will also have to learn to SPELL. THEIR language is English

No we all know the smoke signals as well.

smedrik
most Canadians speak English which apparently you already do..

You will just have to learn how to spell colour, neighbour, and a host of other words correctly. Replace um, with eh and you will be fine.

c0mplicated_s0ul
If you want us to be polite to you ..........speak English please! Too many people try to communicate to us in their native tongue and we have no FREAKIN" idea what they are saying.....

cotopaximary
Well, it looks like you already speak English. You'll be fine then in most regions of Canada then except Quebec and parts of New Brunswick. There's a few towns scattered about the rest of Canada where mainly French is spoken, but aside from those areas you'll be fine using English.

well we all speak english up here beleive it or not except in quebec they speak french

coderss95
Are you being funny or are you really serious? I'll take it that you are just naive and say,if you're reading this , you already know the language. There are Francophones ( French speaking people) but, most (if not all) are bi-lingual. Do yourself a BIG favor, don't act American.Educate yourself then, leave the general American attitude at the border.

BTW,there is a European/American flavor to Canada that stands out,it is unique.Immerse yourself in it,ENJOY IT !

tazmania girl
it depends to what part of canada you go. Part of the speak
English and part French. It cool to learn a second language. Try it.

Mat
not necessarily but it would be easiest for yourself if you could speak english because that's what most people speak. If you go to quebec then alot of people speak french though. but here in ontario i speak english, spanish and swahili!

Marie
OMG, are you serious. We in Canada speak the same language as you do......except in Quebec where they speak French as well as English.

Frustrated Child
umm the only languages we speak is enlgish and french.. french is mostly in quebec, but ottawa (ontario) is a main part their as well. its best to know them both, but where i live i speack english. lots of people here are multicultural haha, so theirs sooo many languages, but enlgish and french are our main ones..

so too answer the question yes, becasue you need to know at least one to get by in life haha.

Each1Teach1
Idiot!!! This is why people think Americans are soooo dumb. Yes, learn Canodian . . .

colinhughes333
Yes we speak all the languages of the world up here including DORK....what the heck do you think we speak up here?????Martian....No wonder the people tell you we live in Igloos and ski in July and also hunt seals for using as clothing..DUH !!!! You would think that in this day and age some brains were open to a real world and understanding of the countries around them.

geek49203
In most of Canada, "Americanized" English is the norm, with certain exceptions (eh?).

In some places, a dialect of French is spoken. If you learn French in France, you'll struggle to speak with the "French" people.

You'll need to learn to talk about hockey, Tim Horton's, and how to pronounce the words "about," "process," and "eh".

lacoste042
Canadians don't have a national language. Some speak french, some are are just jackasses
