If i have a permanent residency card in the states but am from Canada...do i need a passport to visit Canada?

You do need a passport to FLY to Canada, but not to DRIVE to Canada until summere 2008. You cannot get a U.s.Passport unless yu become a U.S. Citizen. what happened to your Canadian passport? You NEED a Cadadian passport to use until you become a U.s. citizen ( if you decide to do that.)

you say you're from Canada....so you cannot be denied entry into Canada.
I don't have a passport but if I'm in the states and want to fly home- they cannot say no.

If you do want a passport it's $85 plus the cost of your photo which is probably $15 at wal mart.

YES you do need a passport... I am also a canadian citizen , and a legal permanent resident in the us ( I also have a permanent resident card) and just recently travelled to Canada, and I needed a passport... you need a passport no matter what the circumstances are if flying by air... I dont know about land, but just in case I would get one... it took 4 months for me to get my passport by mail since this is the only way to do it when you are living in US and are canadian citizen.... if I were you, Id apply ASAP and try to get it the fastest way possible if that option is available... if not, good luck and be patient, waiting times are outrageous...

I have a permanent resident card in the US but am a Canadian citizen still and they always ask to see my passport when I go back to Canada (even before the new rule came into effect about requiring one to fly). I was told that I am required to hold a valid passport from my home country (in this case Canada) at all times since I am not a citizen of the US and only have the "green card".

I guess to really get an answer you should call Canadian and US immigration and ask to see what they are going to require. I also turn my passport AND permanent resident card over to the US immigration official when I return to the US- sometimes they stamp the passport- depending on where I've been (ie when I went to Europe they stamped it on my return to the US).

I am not sure if I understood your question, how did you come to the US without a passport?
In any case, I would advise you to travel to canada with a passport. You won't need a visa if you are from Canada of course.
It is easy to get a Canadian passport. Contact your local Canadian embassy to get information on what documents you need to get.

If you need to travel right now and have no time to get a passport, go to the embassy and tell them they should be able to give you a letter allowing you to travel without a passport ok?

under 6 month no over 6 month you need to pay lots of the money cash to let you back in Canada, also bring some democracy with you to canada we need ...
