If you follow this link

http://www.voyage.gc.ca/dest/ctry/visa-en.asp

you will find a complete list of all countries that require Canadians to have a Visa even for short term visits (less then a few months).

If you are going to stay for more then 3 months, all countries have special requirements.

Hope this helps.

PS Sorry I didn't give you a list of the place where you don't need a Visa but all you have to do is make sure the country you want to go to is not on this list.

Each country has different requirements for visas and these can change on a moment's notice. Really. As a former travel agent, I can tell you that people have left Canada for a long extended holiday, arrived at the third or fourth country on their itinerary and discover that all of a sudden Visas are required for all visitors!! This is the exception, of course, but it does illustrate the fact that no one can give you a list of countries. What you do is select the countries you would like to visit, then go to their website and enquire if visas are required for Canadians. Some countries are welcoming for up to 14 days, some for 21 days, some for 30 days -- and don't try to "push it" to 31st day. they MEAN 30 days!! Most countries in "the Commonwealth" allow Canadians to visit for up to 30 days, longer than that requires a Visa so they know if you're a student, worker or just a rich tourist. Your question can not be answered with a "list of countries."

well, visas are just for longterm stays*, aren't they? Like if you are going to a different country for your schooling or for work.

I assume that you could go anywhere that you can travel to from Canada with just your passport.

*That's how it is in the U.S.A.
