If you are driving from Canada to the USA and then want to fly from one city to another do you need a passport
now crossing the border all you need is a birth certificate and photo identification once in the states if you go to an airport to say fly from buffalo to los angeles do you as a canadian citizen have to have a passport or is a birth certificate and photo identification good enough?
You got a lot of smart-alek and idiot answers! NO...you do not need a passport to fly within the U.S. You will need a photo I.d. You will also need your birth certificate for when you drive over the border. Good idea to get a passport soon as you will need it starting next summer.

An ID is enough

since you have a lot of contradictory answers with no references, here's a link to passport Canada who says you currently don't need a passport to do it that way.
I can also tell you I have a coworker who drives down to Seattle then flies to Vegas a couple times a year. Her first ever passport application is sitting on her desk half filled in. She hasn't bothered to complete it as she wont need it for another 9 months or more.
