Canada consists of 13 political divisions,10 provinces and 3 territories NOT DEVIDED INTO 12 as mentioned above.....The provinces are Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, and Saskatchewan and the territories are Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Yukon and the major difference between a Canadian province and a Canadian territory is that a province is a creation of the Constitution Act (17 April 1982), while a territory is created by federal law. Thus, the federal government has more direct control over the territories, while provincial governments have many more competences and rights. |

There are actually 3 territories (one of the posters said there was 2):
Yukon, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES, and Nunavut. There are 10 provinces: (west to east)
British Columbia (BC)
Alberta (AB)
Saskatchewan (SK)
Manitoba (MB)
Ontario (ON)
Quebec (QC)
(Maritimes North to South)
Newfoundland (NF)
Prince Edward Island (PEI)
Nova Scotia (NS)
New Brunswick (NB) |

The best way to show you Canada would be to look on Google Maps. If you type in "Canada" they will show you a map of Canada and USA.
Each province, territory, and the US states are shown with their official initials. There are ten Canadian provinces and three territories (there used to be only two, but Nunavut was added by reassigning some of the Northwest Territories geographic area.
The main differences between BC and Nunavut are:
1) BC is on the Pacific coast, while Nunavut is up north and covers most of the Arctic area.
2) British Columbia is a province that has certain voting rights and has provincial jursidiction on certain things like education, healthcare, etc. Nunavut is a territory, which means that the federal government manages much of those things on their behalf.
I can't tell you much about the people in Resolute, as I have never been there myself. But it is a small commuinity (only 229 people at last count) and probably made up of Inuit and perhaps some outside researchers.
As for what we think about Alaska, I have heard that the people there are very family oriented, hardy people. I know that Sarah Palin, Jewel, and Jack London are all from Alaska. There is a pipeline that brings oil down from north to south Alaska, and there are Alaskan cruises that many people like to go on (my Aunt was on one last year).
The only controversy between Canada and Alaska I can recall is when Canada was still young and under British control, we had a dispute about the official border between Alaska and BC/Yukon. It was taken to the higher courts and because England at the time was upset with Canadian politicians and wanted to improve trade relations with USA, they made a ruling that was very favorable to US, in terms of where to indicate the official border, which took some lands away from Canada. But that is history...it's not like we are going to go out now and demand it back - lol |

Well im in BC and I can say that it is a lot colder in Nunavut besides that ask yourself the difference between the State of New York and the state of Illinois its pretty much the same idea with provinces. |

Canada is divided into 10 provinces and 2 Territories.
The Provinces being Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island. Newfoundland/Labrador, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia.
The 2 territories are Nunavut and Yukon.
Resolute is primarily an Innuit community.
Alaska is just a friendly U.S. State neighbouring B.C. and the Yukon. No different than Ontario to New York, Michigan, and Minnesota. |
