yes, Canadians go to college for free

Robb R
Hmmm. Primary education is paid through property tax. So you pay for it as a home owner or as part of your rent. Secondary education is subsidized but still partially paid for by the user. If you are not a Canadian citizen, your colledge tuition can be double what a Canadian pays who graduates from a Canadian Hign School. Even in Canada, there is no free ride.

Elementary and high school is sort of "free"...your taxes pay for it but post secondary education everyone pays for.

What sort of school? [Elementary, secondary?]

sweetbee
IF YOU ARE PERMANENT RESIDENT, YOU CAN GO FOR FREE ( KIND OF FREE, BECAUSE YOU ARE PAYING IT WITH YOUR TAXES )TO KINDERGARDEN, ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE YEARS, HIGH SCHOOL, BUT COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IS NOT FREE. IF YOU ARE FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY AND COME WITH JUST A TURIST VISA YOU CAN NOT STUDY, YOU NEED A STUDENT VISA.

Man
You need to have citizenship for free elementary+secondary education.

no...lol...

Yippee
yeah you can, but your family would have to pay taxes like everyone else

If you are paying taxes, most of it is included, though even public schools have small fees. When I was in school (over a decade ago) it was a bit over $100 a year to register. This does not apply to college, you would have to pay for that same as in the US.
