Ok, get this information from someone who lives in Niagara Falls, USA and makes trips weekly to the Canadian side in order to cross the bridges into Canada in Niagara Falls you do not need a passport until June of 2009 then they will be required what you need is your birth certificate to prove citizenship and a photo id that is government issued preferably a licence. Contrary to what others say even now they will not give you a harder time if not do not have a passport. |

You can still travel between the USA and Canada with proof of identity + proof of citizenship IF you are traveling by ground or sea transport. A passport is currently only required for air travel.
That is scheduled to change in 2009 and all travel between the USA and Canada will then require a passport or passport card (passport cards will only work for ground/sea travel).

Not the American side, but I believe a passport is now required to visit the Canadian side, which is much prettier. |

yes if you are visiting the Canada side. You need a passport or passcard. Call the passport agency at 877-487-2778 |

For the Homeland Security, all travelers this time should have passport every time you travel. It is random check. To be safe, you should bring your passport when you travel by air. |
