Vancouver's climate is unusually temperate by Canadian standards; its winters are the fourth warmest of Canadian cities monitored by Environment Canada after nearby Victoria, Nanaimo, and Duncan, all of which are on Vancouver Island. Vancouver has daily minimum temperatures falling below 0 °C (32 °F) on an average of 46 days per year and below -10 °C (14 °F) on only two days per year. The average annual precipitation is about 1,219 millimetres (48 in), though this varies dramatically throughout the city due to the topography. Summer months are quite sunny with moderate temperatures, tempered by sea breezes. The daily maximum averages 22 °C (72 °F) in July and August, although temperatures sometimes rise above 26 °C (78 °F). The summer months are often very dry, resulting in moderate drought conditions a few months of the year. In contrast, more than half of all winter days receive measurable precipitation. On average, snow falls on only eleven days per year, with only three days receiving six or more centimetres (2.5 in or more). |

Guessing that you are from the UK. an understanding of Canada would be necessary. The areas that are warmest in the summer time are usually the coolest in the winter. And by cool I do mean cool. -30 and -40 C are not unusual. These areas are also associated with +40 C in the summer.
Victoria BC is quite similar in weather to south Britain with the cool damp winters and temperate summers. Nova Scotia is quite similar to Scotland in geography and weather. The rest of Canada has every thing from deserts to mountains (Glaciers). If you are planning to move to Canada don't choose the location because of the weather. I don't think I've ever met a Canadian that likes the weather where they live. If they did we wouldn't be spending so much time and money travelling.
Most of us tolerate the weather because of other advantages. Southern Ontario (Windsor area) is known as the banana belt because winter is late in starting and spring is early but the number of 40C days seem to drag on all summer. But when I lived there I still loved it because of the gorgeous beaches and clean water. Excellent fishing and fine fresh vegetables from local gardens. But I can't argue about the splendour of the Rockies or the scenery of Cape Breton Island or Newfoundland.
I am beginning to sound like the travel bureau. But then most Canadians feel the same as I do. |

Well, Southern Ontario gets the warmest in the summer (TOO warm if you ask me), but the winters can get pretty cold.
Vancouver easily has the warmest winters, even though the summers aren't necessarily the warmest. I think Vancouver summers are perfect (temp averages between 24-28 C usually, with a few days going above 30).
Like the person above said, Nova Scotia and the other Maritime provinces are BEAUTIFUL, but they are far from warm. |

Vancouver is nice, and it is very temperate, but it rains for 6 strait months in the winter, lived there 5 years!
the warmest place in Canada is the okanagen valley.
the southern part is the only official dessert in Canada
their is cactus, rattlesnakes,in the summer 100 to 110F.
this is also a great wine growing region for the same reason.
it's been called Canada's napa valley. |

the okanagan valley in BC gets really warm in the summer time. it gets mildly cold in the winter but not too bad. vancouver is great but pretty rainy year round. i'd say BC is the province to focus on. Ontario is warm too but look out for the bugs!! |
