Im looking for a medium sized city in canada that is english speaking and is looking for computer technicians. |
I get my CompTIA certification in acouple months. I live in Quebec and have only little knowledge of the french language, its very hard to learn. Im looking for an english speaking large town or small city, with lots of countryside if possible with good living costs and thats job market also has need for computer technicians. Im looking to start a new life and I wanted to see what other places have to offer in these fields. Thank you! =) |

Saskatoon, Regina, or Winnipeg. Jobs everywhere AND a lower cost of living (although Saskatoon is catching up).
Toronto is Canada's *largest* city, as I'm sure you know, and Ottawa does NOT have "good living costs".Neither does Victoria, even though it is a beautiful city and the market may be good in your field.
I'm not sure what the IT field is like in Halifax, but many rank it high for affordability, size, and quality of life.
Good luck! |

There are so many beautiful small cities and large English speaking towns in Canada. You have such a great choice. One city that would probably suite your needs would be Kitchener,ON because they have a great university there that teaches computer technology. |

Try Campbell River, BC. It wants to become a mini Silicon Valley and has great countryside and very reasonable living costs. You might also look at places on the outskirts of Vancouver; Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford, Maple Ridge, Chilliwack. |

Pick up any newspaper----Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; we've just started to BOOM. |

That's a pretty tall order to ask for a city or large town with lots of countryside, good living costs and a job market for the skills you have.
You might want to define exactly what you mean by "large town", since some people may define places like "Barrie, Ontario" as a small city or a large town. You, however, may see Barrie as something else.
However, you may want to seriously consider moving to Ottawa, since it is a small city and has quite a lot of countryside. It's not super cheap to live in Ottawa but the job prospects are pretty decent, especially if you can nail a job with the government. |

Uhh I don't know what that other poster was talking about with Ottawa. Never heard that in my life.
How about Victoria? I've known quite a few computer techs and programmers who have worked there. |

Toronto is NOT a medium-sized city. Come to Regina, Saskatchewan (pop. 201,500), and a booming economy. |

I disagree with them saying Toronto- Ottawa is known (and is perhaps the closest medium sized city) to be the capital of computer technologies in Canada.
Ottawa has large computer and technological employers and is known as the Silicone Valley of the East.
You don't need to know any French to do this type of work in Ottawa, though it helps, most the high tech jobs in Ottawa are located in Kanata where there are no French speakers anyhow.
In Ottawa as well, you can live on the Quebec side (Gatineau-Hull) and pay very low renting prices ($600 for a two bedroom) rather then a bit more in Ottawa itself.
GOod luck! |
