In Canada do they say Zed instead of Zee for the letter z?

I know in other English speaking countries like England or Australia they say zed for the letter z while Americans say zee i heard from some guy that every English speaking country besides America says zed I was wondering since i have never been to Canada if they say zed or zee. I know this is random but it was just a question on my mind. Thanks!

Actually I think it is the other way around ... you guys say "zee" for "zed".

EmilyOsmentFan
Yes, we say Zed.
We also spell (colour) differently
and prounce words such as vehicle and route differently.

Mostly zed, some zee.

I'm in Canada and yes we say Zed. The main reason for this is so it isn't confused with the letters C, V etc. I know whenever I call anyone in the USA though I really confuse them if I say Zed so I will say Zee if I'm calling America

zed in the common in canada
their are also some words spelt differently as well
I called a customer service in the states and had to state my postal code she had no clue when I said zed I realized and had to explain to her it was the same as zee
many words we spell like the british due to our history as a british colony (common wealth country )

Canadian
Its Zed.

Any Canadian who pronounces it "Zee" is unpatriotic, bordering on traitorous.

I was watching a Hockey game a few days ago and the commercials were from Prince Edward Island. I noticed they did say Zed for Zee. I thought that was a british thing, but I guess not.

The US is the only Eglish speaking country that says 'zee' instead of 'zed'. The language originated in Britain, was carried to the various colonies by settlers and for some reason, the Americans changed the pronounciation of the last letter of the alphabet. No idea why they did so, but they did.

"Zed" in Canada and other English speaking countries. "Zee" only in the USA.

I'm Canadian and I say zee.

Most Canadians say zed, although it does sound a bit odd when your talking about "zee cars" (Camaro Zed-24, Monte Carlo Zed-34, Datsun 240-Zed, etc.).

the ones closer to the border say both. some wonder why on earth other canadians say zed. i think we should say zee, it rhymes with the rest of the alphabet song!

I say zee "I'm Canadian"

The official way of saying the letter is "Zed". In school we're taught "Zed" is the proper way of saying it.

However, a lot of people do say "Zee" due to American TV.

yeah, its proper here to say zed. it doesn't rhyme with the rest of the alphabet so many canadians say zee.

we say both it depends on what we are saying like zebra is zee but when we sing the alphabet song we say zed

PK Levy
Canada has lots of foreigners and refugees from all over the world who moved there and they now live there. Even though Canadian English is more American than Brittish, some people do say ZED, but mostly foreigners.
