In Canada, is geography a required course in high schools?

PAWS
For the record, education is controlled provincially not nationally so each province will have its different graduation requirements.

In Nova Scotia, students are required to take a Globle Studies credit but it could be history or geography. I took history because I was in the French Immersion program and it was required...so no, I was not required to that the geography course.

So, no not all Canadian high schools require it though there is the chance that some might...If you have a particular province in mind, I suggest going to their education website.

its part of our social studies program. geography is not required after grade 10. you can chose between that and a couple other socials courses i.e. history, or comparative civ. this is in BC too, could be different in other provinces

It is part of the social studies courses, which are required.

JavaJoe
I remember it was necessary in Grade 9 and I believe Grades 10 and 11 had some kind of geography or social studies type course you needed to take. By Grade 12 however the only thing that you needed to take was English.

Then there was OAC/Grade 13 but that was only if you were heading to University

When I was in high school we either had to do Canadian geography or history. if you wanted to you could do both but it wasn't required.
