Eastern Canada is completely different than western Canada. I personally would go to western Canada for your first visit, where you'll be able to see the mountains, old rain forests and ocean all at the same time (Vancouver area). Montreal (in eastern Canada), as well as the maritime provinces are amazingly beautiful too but if you want something completely different from Italy... go to the west!. So, go to Vancouver but remember to get out of the city while you're there. I would take the ferry to Vancouver Island and head over to Tofino. It's BEAUTIFUL there! You can even try surfing! If you have a chance, I would take a trip up to the Queen Charlotte islands. You might be able to see whales! Even if you can't make it to the Queen Charlottes, you could go to some of the gulf islands (Salt spring island, Pender..etc) and stay at a bed and breakfast. Salt spring is the best because there are more things to do there. It's a good place to relax!

Wow hope you have a load of cash, some of these places people are telling you are about 3500 miles away from each other. Canada is larger than the USA. But Montreal is amazing, my fave city. |

If you are in Western Canada come to Calgary and drive out to the mountains. The drive between Banff and Jasper is beautiful and there is a lot to see there. It's gorgeous! |

I think you can see all of Canada. Well you wont be able to go inside top secret military bases or bank vaults or private home uninvited but the rest is open. I have found the people of Canada to be very warm and friendly. |

Vancouver is beautiful, especially in June.. You can be in the mountains in the morning, and at the beach in the afternoon...There is great shopping and nitelife, if thats what you are looking for. It's on the westcoast, though... not sure where in Canada you had planned on going.. So many people just go to Toronto and Montreal, and miss the west.. |
